Artist Elizabeth Page wanted to create a digital space where collectors and followers could experience her work beyond finished paintings. The goal was to design member pages in Webflow that documents the evolution of her artwork through studio reflections, process imagery, and curated chapters.
Rather than functioning as a simple gallery, the platform needed to feel like a living archive - a place where the story of each body of work could unfold over time.
The result was a structured membership environment that organizes artwork into seasonal salons and chapters while remaining flexible enough to grow with future work.
The Challenge
Elizabeth’s work is deeply process-driven. Each painting evolves through experimentation, material exploration, and structural shifts in the studio.
The website needed to accomplish several things at once:
• Present artwork in a way that feels intentional rather than like a standard portfolio
• Allow members to access exclusive studio reflections and behind-the-scenes content
• Organize evolving work into clear narrative chapters
• Build a system that can scale as future salons and projects develop
Traditional portfolio structures weren’t suitable because the artwork isn’t simply published once and archived - it develops over time.
The website therefore needed a content architecture that supported narrative progression and long-term documentation.
My Approach
To support this vision, I designed a structured system that combines membership access with a scalable CMS architecture.
The site was organized around three primary layers of content:
Each salon represents a body of work unfolding over time. Instead of chronological posts, the salons function as curated spaces that capture the conceptual trajectory of the work.
Each salon includes:
• A narrative introduction
• A series of chapters documenting pivotal moments in the work
• Process reflections recorded in the studio
This structure allows viewers to follow how the work evolves rather than simply seeing the final result.
Inside each salon, the work is broken into chapters, each documenting a critical shift in the creative process.
Each chapter contains three core components:
This Moment in the Studio:
A short structural thesis paired with a studio video recorded in real time.
Explore the Development:
Side-by-side imagery showing how the work changed during the process.
Turning Point:
A detail image and retrospective reflection describing what the artist understands about the work in hindsight.
This structure creates a narrative flow that mirrors the creative process itself.
To support exclusive content, the site includes a membership area where subscribers can explore the archive more deeply.
Members gain access to:
• Process documentation
• Studio reflections
• Artwork chapters
• Narrative insights behind each piece
This transforms the website from a static portfolio into a living digital archive.
Because the project needed to grow over time, the site was built using Webflow CMS collections designed for flexibility.
Key collections included:
• Seasonal Salons – overarching bodies of work
• Chapters – narrative units within each salon
• Artwork Entries – individual pieces connected to chapters
Relational CMS linking ensures that:
• New salons can be added easily
• Chapters automatically populate within the correct salon
• Artwork entries remain organized within their narrative context
This structure allows the archive to expand without requiring redesign.
The design approach prioritized clarity and restraint so the work itself remains the focus.
Key design choices included:
• Image-forward layouts that give artwork space to breathe
• Editorial typography that supports long-form storytelling
• Horizontal chapter navigation to create a narrative flow
• Lightbox viewing so artwork can be explored in detail
Subtle motion and micro-interactions were added to maintain a calm, contemplative rhythm as viewers move through the archive.

Creative work rarely happens in a straight line. By structuring Elizabeth’s website around chapters, salons, and evolving narratives, we were able to design a platform that reflects the reality of the artistic process.
Instead of simply showcasing finished pieces, the site invites viewers into the thinking, experimentation, and discovery that shaped the work.
The finished platform functions as more than a portfolio. It serves as a structured digital archive of the artist’s evolving work.
The website now allows Elizabeth to:
• Share exclusive content with members
• Document the creative process in real time
• Organize complex bodies of work into clear narrative chapters
• Expand the archive as new salons and projects emerge
Most importantly, the system provides a foundation that can grow with the artist’s practice without requiring future structural redesign.
