Making it easy for Independents and Clients to start working together on Contra was my first initiative at Contra. The goal was to create a frictionless workflow that would transform all the typically painful aspects of freelance work — setting project terms, creating a contract, and getting paid — into a simple, guided experience.

One of the biggest asks from our users was to offer a variety of payment schedules, so we set out on a mission to expand our initial offering — flat fee and hourly rate — and added milestones, as well as weekly/monthly recurring payments that act as retainers for long-term contracts.

With the launch of v3 of proposals, Independents can now get paid on whatever makes sense for their business.
