Goldin MVP

Timeline: 7 months
Team: Design Lead, 2 Product Managers, 1 Front-End Engineer, and 2 Back-End Engineers
Challenge: Overhaul the live auction site Goldin, previously known as Goldin Auctions, by leading the design of the consumer-facing site and internal admin tool, both reliant on the new proprietary auction platform.
Goals for the Goldin MVP Launch:
Make the experience for users bidding on items intuitive across desktop and mobile.
Design a user-centric search and filter experience that aids in discoverability
Create a seamless login experience:
Develop a "My Account" section where users can watch items, view items they are actively bidding on, view invoices, edit shipping and payment information, and allow sellers to follow their listing up at auction.
Clearly explain "extended bidding" and ensure bids in this period happen instantly without the need to refresh the page.
Allow multiple auctions to run on the site simultaneously (Dependent upon back-end support and design of internal tooling and the consumer-facing site)
Work with engineering to develop a scalable design system.
Goldin Auctions prior to the Goldin MVP site launch.
Post Launch Results:
Extended bidding encouraged bids in the last hours of an item at auction, ultimately increasing the final price of items.
User engagement on mobile for bidding and discovery, which was nonexistent before the launch of the new Goldin, increased by over 60%.
In the first full year that the new Goldin platform was live, the company's GMV increased by 300%.

Self-Service Checkout

Timeline: 3 Months
Team: Lead Designer, 1 Product Manager, Engineer, and Analyst
Challenge: For buyers and internal Goldin teams, the previous payment process was manual, rigid, and error-prone. Users buying on Goldin had inefficient modes to pay (e.g., no ACH debit), no visibility into their order status, and a confusing invoice flow resulting in incorrect payments or packages being shipped. Internally, Goldin accounting and shipping teams had to manually generate invoices and shipping labels for each customer's purchase.
The Self-Service Checkout feature introduced new functionality for Goldin, enabling users to seamlessly complete the payment process for items in their account while ensuring that shipping details and associated costs are updated in real-time and are accurate. Checkout also enables ACH payments via Stripe.
Goals:
Commit to a single checkout flow for all user payments through Goldin Marketplace
Eliminate manual operations and overhead present today by enabling a single per-auction checkout flow, where:
Support appropriate payment methods to enable seamless purchases
Initial Checkout Results:
In the first week that checkout launched, instant payments for items won increased by 40% in part due to the ease of the payment process backed using Stripe.
Design System
I worked closely with front-end engineering to establish a design system incorporating tokens and components. I ensured that each token/style had the proper naming structure, and I provided detailed documentation on where and how each element of the design system would be incorporated.

Mobile App

Challenge: As the company has scaled, I have worked to grow the product design team. I have spearheaded efforts to explore ideas with the design team while working closely with engineering and product managers, allowing the tech team to get ahead of roadmap items and allowing the design team to have room for exploration and research for goals set and new ideas. One such goal set on the roadmap is the Goldin mobile app.
