The six largest functional teams at the organization needed to engage in a robust annual planning process that involved meeting budget targets, refining staffing structures and outlining strategic priorities not only for the next fiscal year but that also lay the foundation towards the organization reaching its new 10 year goal. The challenge was to ensure that the teams collaborated together and the most effective and efficient path forward was not only outlined but feasible for execution.
In order to have an effective 12 week planning window, I created an outline of non-negotiables for the strategic plans and set up the systems for how team leads would engage with each other and with the EVP. It was clear on when different items would be reviewed and what each team lead was responsible for doing with their teams and with their manager. The EVP and I reviewed aggregated plans, refined budgets & staffing charts and finalized goals to ensure we would meet strategic priorities.
The organization's marketing, communications, partnerships, admissions, recruiting and fundraising teams all had ambitious and feasible strategic plans that met budget requirements and were able to be implemented throughout that fiscal year. As a result of the planning process, we were able to ensure that all 6 teams and 320 staff members had culture, data, technology, and systems to meet their goals and deliver impactful results.
