Al Salam Bank's aimed to transform the banking experience by creating a modern and user-centric mobile app that appeals to young and tech-savvy users in Bahrain.
The goal was to introduce a seamless and engaging digital banking solution that aligns with users' needs and expectations.
As a UX/UI Designer, I was responsible for both the user experience and interface design aspects of the project. This included researching user needs, designing intuitive interfaces, and iterating based on feedback to ensure the app delivers an exceptional user experience.

❌ Challenges

Reaching Younger Audiences: The banking industry in Bahrain is often perceived as traditional and outdated. Attracting younger users required breaking away from the conventional mold to create a vibrant and innovative design.
Simplifying Complex Financial Transactions: Banking apps can be intimidating, especially for users who are new to managing their finances digitally. The challenge was to simplify the experience while ensuring accuracy and security.
Competitive Landscape: With competitors like Ila Bank and BisB, it was crucial to create a distinctive and compelling app that stood out in the market.
Seamless Navigation: Designing an intuitive app structure that caters to both first-time users and experienced customers required thoughtful user flow design and testing.
Integration of Diverse Features: The app needed to offer a wide range of services from everyday transactions to savings and investment tools without overwhelming the user.

📝 Approach and Process

Research and Discovery: Conducted user interviews and competitor analysis to understand pain points, expectations, and opportunities for improvement.
Wireframing and Prototyping: Created low-fidelity wireframes to map user flows and high-fidelity prototypes to test interactions and gather feedback.
Design System Creation: Developed a scalable design system to ensure consistency across all screens and future scalability of the app.
Iterative Testing: Performed usability testing with users to identify pain points and refine the design iteratively based on feedback.

The final app design incorporated:
Personalized Dashboards: Tailored experiences based on user preferences and habits.
Modern Aesthetics: A vibrant yet professional color palette and sleek typography to appeal to younger users.
Simplified Navigation: A clean and intuitive interface with clear visual hierarchies for effortless navigation.
Gamification Features: Integrated rewards and challenges to engage users and encourage app usage.
