Pawtective Siren introduces a protective collar designed for free-roaming and stray dogs. It monitors a dog's stress level, so distress that would otherwise stay invisible becomes something people can notice. We made an AI commercial to introduce it.
The challenge
The concern behind the product is real but hard to show: dogs living in public spaces, where threatening behaviour from people often goes unseen. A statistic would not make anyone feel it. The film had to make that risk tangible and still introduce a product.
One decision: the dog leads, not the product
We did not treat the collar as a hero object. The dogs carry the story: walking alone through dark residential streets, a figure approaching with a stick, the dog trying to get away. The collar only matters at the moment the dog is in distress, when its light turns that feeling into a signal the people nearby can see.
The look
Night-time street photography: dim alleys, empty roads, hard shadows, overhead cables and long stretches of negative space. The dogs are often framed at a distance or surrounded by darkness, so the lack of protection is felt before anything happens.
The finished work
A product concept that turns a dog's invisible distress into a signal people can recognize and act on. Shown here: a 30-second cut of six shots from the commercial (16:9, no sound) and six frames.
If you're launching a product whose value is a feeling rather than a feature, I'm happy to talk it through.
Six shots from the commercial, from a dog alone at night to the collar lighting up. No sound.
A dog alone in a park at night, framed wide with nobody else around.
An empty road. The dog is small against the asphalt and the street lights.
Long negative space down a residential lane. The dog is the smallest thing in the frame.
A quiet lane. Hard light, hard shadow, and no one watching the dog.
The threat: a figure with a stick, seen from above through the overhead cables.
The collar, introduced last, once the risk is already clear.
