Jay-Jay Club: Podcast Sound Design

The Creative Direction

Sound is 50% of the experience, especially when dealing with history. My mission for the Jay-Jay podcast was to take raw, AI-generated narrations and transform them into immersive audio journeys. I wanted to move away from the "flat" feeling of AI and create a textured, emotional atmosphere that makes the listener feel like they’re standing in the middle of a packed stadium in the 90s.

The Audio Architecture

Breathing Life into AI: To counter the consistency of an AI voice, I layered in a "dramatic and wonderful" orchestral backsound. I focused on dynamic shifts, letting the music swell during the highlights and drop away during the intimate storytelling moments.
The "Moment of Magic": I didn't just use music. I hunted for iconic archival audio real commentators screaming during legendary goals and the roar of the crowd. Blending these "authentic sounds" with the narration creates a bridge between the digital voice and real football history.
Precision SFX: From the sound of a ball hitting the net to the whistle of a referee, I used foley and SFX to add "weight" to the story. Every sound was placed with intention to keep the listener engaged from the intro to the final whistle.

The Result

An audio experience that feels human, nostalgic, and deeply engaging. By treating the podcast like a movie soundtrack, we turned informational content into a premium brand asset that football purists actually want to listen to
