Jay-Jay Club, a creative football studio, I was tasked with bringing the stories of old-school legends to life for a modern audience. My approach was to blend a documentary aesthetic with clean, fast-paced motion design, preserving the nostalgia while keeping it snappy enough for the current social feed.
The Playbook
Documentary-Style Storytelling: I treated every reel like a mini-film. I focused on archival photos and footage, giving them a new lease on life through intentional pacing and sound design.
Dynamic Visual Timelines: To help viewers track a legend’s journey, I designed custom on-screen graphics and timelines. This makes the "history lesson" feel like an immersive experience rather than just a slideshow.
The "Hook" Strategy: I used high-contrast, inverted color bold text for the openers. It’s a clean, aggressive look that stops the scroll immediately without cluttering the frame.
Minimalist Typography: For the captions, I went for a "less is more" approach. The goal was to stay crystal clear and accessible, ensuring the typography supports the iconic visuals rather than distracting from them.
The Result
Content that feels like a collector’s item. By mixing retro vibes with modern editing tricks, we created a digital space where football history feels fresh, premium, and totally binge-able.
