NOCTUA | High-End Late-Night Fast-Casual Identity

The Overview

NOCTUA is a premium late-night fast-casual brand designed to bridge the gap between "quick-service" convenience and "luxury lifestyle" aesthetics. The goal was to move away from the typical "cheap" feel of midnight dining and create a visual experience that feels exclusive, bold, and high-end.

My Role

Brand Design: Crafting the visual identity, including the custom "rubber-hose" inspired mascot suite.
Packaging Design: Developing a cohesive CPG packaging system for burgers, fries, and beverages.
Brand Strategy: Positioning the brand for a luxury lifestyle sector using high-contrast color theory and premium finishing.

The Challenge

Most late-night food brands prioritize speed over soul. The challenge was to create a brand that commands attention at 2:00 AM while maintaining the sophistication of a luxury brand. It needed to feel energetic yet polished.

The Strategic Solution

I utilized a high-contrast Vivid Orange and Deep Black palette to ensure instant brand recognition in low-light environments. By pairing vintage-inspired character illustrations with modern, bold pinstripes and gold-foil accents, the identity feels both nostalgic and futuristic.

Visual Elements

The Mascot: A versatile character suite featuring a "pointing spatula" mascot and a "chef hat" variant, adding personality and movement to the brand.
Typography: Bold, heavy-weight letterforms that communicate strength and quality.
Patterns: An all-over character pattern used on inner-wrappers and napkins to create a "discovery" experience for the customer.
