Overview
Designed the emergency response flow for a healthcare app, activated when a patient needs immediate medical help.
Problem
Emergency situations demand near-zero cognitive load. Any extra step, unclear label, or buried action can cost critical time. The flow needed to move a user from "I need help" to "help is on the way" as fast as possible, without sacrificing clarity or control.
Solution
Persistent SOS access in the bottom navigation, always one tap away regardless of where the user is in the app.
Single-action trigger screen with a clear confirmation state ("Are you in emergency?") to prevent accidental activation while keeping friction minimal.
Immediate results after activation: nearest hospitals ranked by distance, listed with cost estimate and rating, plus a direct call button per hospital.
Auto-detected address with an editable option, balancing speed with the user's need for control over their own information.
Voice call screen as the final step, keeping the interface calm and minimal once the connection is made.
Outcome
An emergency flow that prioritizes speed and clarity at every decision point, designed around the reality that users in crisis have limited attention and no patience for friction.
