Crafting a Modular Shopping Experience for Floyd

Mikhail Arden

A scalable Shopify store built to reflect Floyd’s design ethos minimal, intentional, and built to last while simplifying furniture discovery online.

Project Overview

Floyd needed more than just a product catalog. The brand is rooted in sustainability, modular design, and transparency but their old storefront didn’t reflect that. The goal was to create a calm, confident shopping experience that invited customers into the brand’s ethos while keeping navigation clear and conversion-focused.

What I Did

I rebuilt the storefront using a Shopify’s theme, designing with grid-based layouts and visual storytelling sections to reflect Floyd’s modularity. Product templates were restructured to support custom variants, assembly education, and long-form brand messaging without cluttering the page.
Highlights
Educational product pages with expandable sections for materials, assembly, and care
Interactive video-led sections to break down modular product components
A modular design story brought to life with fullscreen video and editorial layouts
Clear sorting and filtering for customizable product variations
Clean mobile-first checkout flow with simplified UX
Visual consistency across lifestyle, product, and sustainability content

Outcome

A thoughtful e-commerce site that matches the simplicity and longevity of Floyd’s furniture. Designed to scale with product expansion while keeping the experience rooted in the brand’s values.
