Visual and Digital Identity Design for Clifden Arts Festival

Noel Mannion

Clifden Arts Festival

For more than 17 years, I served as lead designer for Clifden Arts Festival—Ireland’s oldest arts celebration. During this period, I shaped every aspect of the festival’s visual and digital identity, from brand strategy and annual poster collaborations with acclaimed artists (Joe Boske, Jimmy & Hetty Lawlor, Mark Joyce), to website and online ticketing UX, social campaigns, and full print/digital programme design.
My role extended beyond creative direction: I supported box office teams handling 100+ events each 12-day festival, streamlined digital ticket sales, and ensured the brand’s unified presence across all channels. Working closely with founder/director Brendan Flynn, I helped translate each year’s unique themes into a cohesive creative approach, strengthening the festival’s community impact and national reputation.
The result: a consistently elevated festival profile, seamless visitor experience, and a legacy of design collaboration that kept the heart of Irish arts beating in Clifden for nearly two decades.
