CopiPay is a social trading platform designed to make forex trading simpler, faster, and more transparent for traders across all levels. The app empowers users to connect with top traders, copy their trading strategies automatically, and earn passive income through an affiliate-driven system. Built for a growing community of forex enthusiasts, CopiPay redefines how people experience trading — not as a lonely, complex process, but as a collaborative ecosystem of shared success.

The world of forex trading can be intimidating. Many beginners struggle to interpret charts, understand data, and manage trades effectively — often leading to poor decision-making and burnout. Meanwhile, experienced traders lack a simple and secure way to share their strategies or monetize their expertise.

The challenge was clear: how might we bridge the gap between seasoned and aspiring traders, creating a platform that balances automation, education, and financial empowerment — all within a simple mobile experience?

As the sole Product Designer, I led the end-to-end design process — from research and user journey mapping to interface design, prototyping, and usability testing. My focus was on ensuring that every interaction, data visualization, and flow not only simplified complex trading processes but also built trust and engagement among users.

My responsibilities included:

Conducting market and user research to understand the needs of forex traders.

Translating complex trading operations into clear, intuitive user flows.

Designing a gamified affiliate experience to drive user engagement.

Conducting multiple usability tests to validate design decisions.

Collaborating with developers and stakeholders for product alignment.

1. User Research: To begin, I conducted user interviews and surveys with both active and aspiring forex traders to identify major pain points. Most users expressed frustration with:

Overly complicated trading dashboards filled with jargon.

Lack of real-time transparency and progress tracking.

Little to no community engagement or reward systems.

I also analyzed competitors such as eToro, Zulutrade, and OctaFX CopyTrading. While they offered robust features, they often overwhelmed users with too much information upfront. This insight reinforced the need for clarity, focus, and a user-first hierarchy in CopiPay.

2. Surveys & User Persona: I conducted quick targeted surveys with forex traders across beginner, intermediate, and expert levels. Key Themes Identified:

Beginners struggle with understanding risk levels and trustworthiness.

Intermediate traders want clearer analytics before copying someone.

Experts want visibility and incentives to attract copiers.

Everyone wants fast, clean, non-overwhelming UI

3. Competitive Analysis: To understand where the product stands in the market, I conducted a competitive analysis comparing direct and indirect competitors across key features, user experience, pricing, and market positioning. This helped reveal gaps we could capitalize on and areas where competitors were outperforming us. By analyzing customer reviews, onboarding flow, and differentiators, I identified opportunities to deliver a clearer value proposition and a smoother, more trust-driven experience. These insights guided early feature prioritization and shaped how we positioned the product for its target audience.

Wireframes helped us quickly visualize and test the layout, hierarchy, and interaction patterns before moving into detailed UI design. They allowed stakeholders to react to structure instead of visual styling, speeding up decision-making. Through several iterations, I refined components, spacing, and navigation patterns to ensure a clean and intuitive foundation for the final interface.

To create a predictable experience, I organized content and features into a clear, navigable structure. The information architecture balanced ease of discovery with logical grouping of actions, ensuring that users could quickly find what they needed without feeling overwhelmed. By mapping user journeys and analyzing task flows, I identified the shortest, most intuitive paths for key interactions. This foundational structure set the tone for the interaction design and overall usability of the product.

The brand direction was provided by the client. My role was to extend the system, ensuring consistency while creating additional UI-ready assets like promotional banners, illustrations, and in-app visual material.

The goal was a design direction that feels:

Color: Copipay’s color system is anchored by its primary green #00B894, chosen deliberately to communicate trust, growth, and financial clarity, which are core values for a product centered on trading, earnings, and long-term engagement. Green is globally associated with security and upward progress, which helps users feel confident when viewing balances, executing trades, or navigating earnings dashboards. The vibrancy of Copipay Green also gives CTAs and key actions immediate visibility without feeling aggressive, creating a natural visual hierarchy that guides users through complex flows like transactions, analytics, and affiliate progression. Supporting neutrals (charcoal, grays, and soft accents) ensure that screens remain clean and focused, giving the interface room to breathe while making data-heavy sections easier to digest. Overall, the palette reinforces a sense of transparency, momentum, and reliability—exactly what users need in a fintech environment.

Typography: Copipay uses Inter as its primary typeface because it delivers digital-native clarity, professional tone, and strong readability across dense financial interfaces. Designed specifically for UI environments, Inter maintains sharp legibility at small sizes which is crucial for displaying transaction lists, referral stats, earnings breakdowns, and leaderboard metrics without overwhelming the user. Its geometric structure gives the product a modern, trustworthy feel, while its versatile weight system helps establish a clean hierarchy across headings, tabs, forms, and data tables. Inter’s neutral personality prevents visual noise, ensuring that numbers, charts, and actionable elements remain the true focus of each screen. By pairing clarity with approachability, the typography supports Copipay’s goal of simplifying trading and affiliate earnings for users at any skill level.

Once the structure was validated, I transitioned into designing the high-fidelity interface. The visual direction focused on clarity, warmth, and trust using thoughtful color, typography, and spacing to make the experience approachable. Components were designed for consistency and scalability, supporting both current and future features. The final UI brought the product’s personality to life while maintaining strict usability standards.

Usability testing was conducted with a mix of beginner and experienced traders to measure clarity, discoverability, and satisfaction. I used Figma interactive prototypes and observation-based feedback sessions. I performed rapid testing with traders across different experience levels. These sessions focused on:

The CTA button on key pages lacked clarity so I re-labeled and repositioned it for stronger visibility.

The checkout flow felt long and complex so I redesigned it into a step-wise process to reduce cognitive load.

Simplified the affiliate navigation to help users understand how XPs and rewards worked without confusion.

The result was a smoother and faster interaction flow that boosted both trust and engagement metrics in usability tests.

Throughout the project, I encountered challenges ranging from technical limitations to ambiguity in early requirements. Each challenge required reframing the problem and finding a balance between ideal user experience and feasible implementation. By working closely with developers, stakeholders, and subject-matter experts, I proposed solutions that preserved usability without compromising timelines. These problem-solving moments shaped the product into a more mature and thoughtful experience.

Forex interfaces are usually data-heavy and intimidating. Translating that into a mobile-first, user-friendly experience required careful hierarchy and progressive reveal of information.

Solution: I leveraged clean layouts, contextual tooltips, and chart-based summaries to help users understand key insights without digging through details.

Most referral systems fail due to lack of excitement or perceived value.

Solution: I gamified the affiliate system with XP rewards, leaderboard rankings, and tier-based incentives, encouraging friendly competition and ongoing engagement.

CopiPay’s redesign successfully transformed the complex world of copy trading into a visually engaging, intuitive mobile experience. Usability tests confirmed that the product met its core goals of simplicity, trust, and efficiency, with users expressing excitement over the affiliate features and data visualization clarity.

Though still in development, CopiPay’s design is now a solid foundation for launch, praised internally for aligning perfectly with both user needs and stakeholder expectations.

This project reinforced the importance of designing with empathy for non-expert users in complex domains like finance. I learned how simplifying information through hierarchy and interactivity can drastically improve usability without losing depth — and how gamification, when done meaningfully, can drive user motivation.

Designing CopiPay was a powerful reminder that even the most technical products can feel human. By merging clean design, smart automation, and purposeful gamification, I was able to help create a fintech product that inspires confidence, connects communities, and empowers financial growth one copied trade at a time.
