Blue Ridge County — A Place With More Than One Story

UI/UX Design · Web Design · Figma · Editorial destination website
A self-initiated digital experience exploring how a county website could feel less like a directory, and more like the place itself.

The idea

County and tourism websites often end up in one of two places.
Functional but forgettable.
Or beautiful, but so polished that every town starts to look like the same travel campaign.
For Blue Ridge County, we wanted neither.
The idea was to create a digital identity that felt rooted, lived-in and unmistakably local, somewhere history, people, landscapes, events and everyday life could all belong to the same story.

Built as a complete experience

The design system extended across:
Home · Places · Stories · Events · About · Blog · Contact · Resources

Designing each place with its own character

Alder Grove, Juniper Falls, Millstone and Cedar Hollow were each given a distinct personality while staying inside one cohesive visual system.

Editorial, not directory-like

Large photography, expressive typography and story-led layouts helped the experience feel closer to an editorial publication than a traditional tourism directory.

The result - A warm, immersive digital identity that feels rooted in history, shaped by people and designed for discovery.

Blue Ridge County — Rooted Here. Growing Forward.
