1. Project Overview

B.B. Hill Landscaping is a Tucson-based commercial landscaping company with more than 25 years of experience maintaining and improving commercial properties.
The company works across multifamily communities, HOAs, office parks, retail centers, schools, commercial developments, and new construction projects. Its services cover landscape management, construction, irrigation and water management, tree care, and preconstruction support.
The goal of this project was to create a Webflow website that felt as established and professional as the business itself.
Rather than designing a typical landscaping site focused mainly on residential before-and-after photos, I structured the experience around the concerns of property managers, developers, HOAs, and commercial decision-makers.
The customer journey became:
Understand the Capability → See Industry Experience → Build Trust → Explore Services → Review Work → Schedule a Walkthrough

2. The Challenge

B.B. Hill is not simply a lawn-care company.
The business handles everything from weekly landscape maintenance and irrigation to hardscaping, tree care, site infrastructure, emergency support, and construction projects.
That created an important UX challenge.
The website needed to communicate a broad range of capabilities without making the company feel unfocused.
It also needed to speak to several audiences with different priorities:
Property managers
HOA boards
Multifamily operators
Retail-property owners
Schools
Office and commercial properties
General contractors
Developers
Each audience cares about more than how a landscape looks.
They care about reliability, communication, safety, budgets, water management, timelines, property standards, and whether the landscaping company will actually show up consistently.
The website therefore needed to:
Communicate commercial specialization immediately
Establish credibility quickly
Organize a large service offering
Separate services from industries clearly
Show that projects are handled in-house
Explain the company’s process
Make emergency responsiveness visible
Showcase recent project work
Give property managers a simple quote pathway
Support long-term SEO through service and industry pages
Work smoothly across desktop, tablet, and mobile
The goal was to make B.B. Hill feel less like a landscaping vendor and more like a reliable property-management partner.

3. Design Strategy

I structured the website around four principles:
Credibility → Capability → Relevance → Conversion

Lead With Commercial Expertise

The homepage immediately establishes that B.B. Hill provides commercial landscaping and irrigation services in Tucson.
Instead of using broad landscaping language, the messaging speaks directly to organizations managing larger properties.
This helps filter the audience early and makes the business positioning clearer.

Make Reliability a Core Selling Point

B.B. Hill positions reliability as one of its strongest differentiators.
The website reinforces this through messages around:
25+ years of local experience
Locally owned operation
24/7 responsiveness
In-house services
Long-term client relationships
Consistent property care
Service-first culture
The company also emphasizes that it has built much of its reputation through relationships and word of mouth rather than gimmicks.
I used those trust points throughout the journey instead of limiting credibility to a single About section.

Organize Services Around Real Property Needs

Rather than presenting one large landscaping list, I separated the services into clear disciplines.
This allows a property manager looking for irrigation support to take a different path from a developer planning a new landscape construction project.
The structure makes the company’s full-service capability easier to understand.

Make the Next Step Simple

A commercial landscaping project rarely begins with an instant online purchase.
The real conversion is a conversation.
That is why the primary journey is built around:
Schedule a Walkthrough → Receive a Custom Proposal → Begin Service
This mirrors B.B. Hill’s actual sales process and gives potential clients a clear expectation of what happens after submitting an enquiry.

4. UX/UI Design

Hero Section

The hero was designed to communicate three things immediately:
What does B.B. Hill do? Commercial landscaping.
Who is it for? Commercial properties and property managers.
What should the visitor do next? Request a quote or schedule a walkthrough.
The visual direction supports this with professional commercial-property imagery rather than generic residential landscaping photography.

Visual Direction

The website needed to feel established, dependable, and premium without becoming overly corporate.
I used a visual system built around:
Strong landscape photography
Clean typography
Structured layouts
Generous spacing
Clear service cards
Professional team imagery
High-visibility CTAs
Simple iconography
Controlled use of brand colors
The overall interface allows the finished properties and landscaping work to remain the strongest visual elements.

Typography System

The typography hierarchy was designed for fast scanning, especially for busy property managers.
I created styles for:
Hero headlines
Service names
Industry headings
Benefits
Process steps
Testimonials
FAQs
Project titles
Calls-to-action
Large headlines introduce the key message while shorter supporting paragraphs provide enough context without turning pages into long sales documents.

Service Architecture

The core service experience is divided into five clear areas.

Landscape Construction

Covers design-build projects, hardscaping, and site infrastructure.
The service includes work such as pavers, retaining walls, concrete, planters, seating areas, grading, drainage, erosion control, utilities, xeriscaping, and artificial turf.

Landscape Management

Focuses on ongoing commercial maintenance, seasonal services, and turf and plant health.
The website communicates both routine appearance and proactive care rather than simply mowing and trimming.

Irrigation & Water Management

Creates a dedicated pathway for irrigation installation, repairs, monitoring, smart control, and water-conscious landscape management.
This is especially relevant in the Arizona market where efficient water use has a direct impact on landscape health and operating costs.

Tree Care

Positions tree maintenance as part of a complete commercial landscape service rather than a separate vendor requirement.
This includes pruning, trimming, health assessment, and emergency support.

Preconstruction & Estimating

Speaks directly to developers, architects, and general contractors through services such as budgeting, value engineering, coordination, and bid-package support.
Separating these disciplines makes the size of the company’s capabilities easier to understand without overwhelming the visitor.

Industry-Specific Experience

One of the strongest UX decisions was separating what B.B. Hill does from who B.B. Hill does it for.
The Industries experience includes dedicated content for:
Multifamily Communities
Commercial Buildings & Office Parks
Retail Centers & Plazas
Schools & Educational Facilities
HOAs & Property Managers
Developers & New Construction
Each section changes the messaging around the priorities of that audience.
For example, multifamily communities focus on maintaining resident-ready spaces, while retail properties focus more on cleanliness, visibility, safety, and operating without disturbing customers.
This makes the website feel much more relevant than a generic “we serve all commercial properties” message.

How It Works

The conversion process is broken into three straightforward steps:
1. Schedule a Walkthrough The team visits the property to understand its needs.
2. Get a Custom Proposal Services and pricing are tailored to the property.
3. Watch Your Property Thrive The team begins delivering ongoing work and support.
This is intentionally simple.
Commercial landscaping can involve complex scopes, but the website does not need to make the buying process feel complex.

Trust & Differentiation

The “What Sets Us Apart” section communicates why a property manager should consider B.B. Hill rather than another landscaping company.
Key points include:
Locally owned and operated
Service over profit
24/7 responsiveness
Full-service expertise
Reputation-driven growth
These benefits are more meaningful for commercial clients than generic statements about “beautiful landscapes.”

Team Experience

For a service company, the people behind the work matter.
The website introduces leadership and account-management team members, giving the company a more human presence.
The business story also connects back to founder Abelino Beltran, who started the company after immigrating to Tucson from Benjamin Hill, Sonora, with the company name reflecting both his family name and hometown.
Including that story adds character to what could otherwise feel like a purely corporate landscaping business.

Portfolio Experience

The portfolio gives potential clients a way to evaluate the work visually.
Projects can be organized around relevant sectors such as:
HOAs & Property Managers
Multifamily Communities
Retail Centers
Commercial Properties
Schools
Development Projects
The goal was to make the portfolio useful as proof of capability, not simply an image gallery.
Project imagery reinforces the industries and services presented elsewhere on the website.

FAQ Experience

The FAQ answers questions that often come up before commercial clients request a walkthrough.
Topics include:
Types of properties serviced
One-time versus ongoing service
Emergency availability
Custom quotes
In-house work
Start timelines
Landscape management pages also address contract structures, service frequency, plant health, and after-hours emergencies.
I used an accordion-style experience so this information remains accessible without making pages unnecessarily long.

Quote & Walkthrough Form

The main form was designed around starting a professional conversation rather than asking users for excessive information.
Messaging makes the next step clear:
Tell us about the property and we’ll schedule a free walkthrough.
This reduces commitment while still generating a qualified commercial lead.

Responsive Design

Commercial decision-makers may first encounter the company while visiting a property, reviewing vendors, or working from their phone.
The responsive experience therefore prioritizes:
Clear mobile navigation
Large CTA buttons
Easy contact access
Readable service content
Stacked industry sections
Responsive project imagery
Touch-friendly FAQs
Simple forms
Consistent typography
Fast access to quote requests
The mobile version maintains the same professional positioning rather than becoming a simplified afterthought.

5. Website Architecture

The website architecture was designed around both service discovery and industry relevance.

The page moves through:

6. Webflow Development

Once the UX structure and visual direction were established, I translated the website into a responsive Webflow build.
The development focused on creating a system that could support multiple services, industries, team profiles, projects, and future content without losing consistency.
Key development areas included:
Responsive Webflow development
Reusable service components
Webflow CMS architecture

FAQ interactions
Quote and contact forms
Responsive navigation
Reusable CTA sections
Testimonial components
Custom hover states

Semantic heading hierarchy
SEO-friendly page structure
Accessibility-conscious forms
Performance optimization
Cross-browser testing
Cross-device testing
The component-based approach makes it easier to expand the website as B.B. Hill adds projects, industries, team members, or additional services.

7. Design & Development Process

Research → UX Structure → Wireframes → UI Design → Design System → Webflow Development → CMS Setup → Responsive Optimization → Testing → Launch

Research

I started by understanding the difference between residential and commercial landscaping customers.
Commercial decision-makers care about more than aesthetics.
Their priorities include:
Reliability
Property appearance
Safety
Communication
Budgets
Water management
Fast response
Consistent crews
Long-term maintenance
Those priorities shaped the entire website.

UX Structure

I organized the journey around the questions a potential client is likely to ask:
Can you manage a property like mine? → What services do you handle? → Can I rely on your team? → Have you done similar work? → What happens if I contact you?
This became the foundation of the page hierarchy.

Wireframes

The wireframes established:
Hero hierarchy
Service discovery
Industry segmentation
Trust signals
Company story
Project showcase
Process
FAQs
Conversion sections
The focus was on creating a logical sales journey before detailed styling began.

UI Design

The wireframes were transformed into a polished commercial-service interface.
Large property photography helps communicate scale, while clean typography and structured layouts make detailed landscaping information easier to understand.
The goal was to create something that felt established and capable without becoming cold or corporate.

Design System

Reusable styles were created for:
Typography
Buttons
Colors
Service cards
Industry sections
Project cards
Team profiles
Testimonials
Forms
FAQs
CTAs
Spacing
Responsive behavior
This gives the website visual consistency across a large content structure.

Webflow Development

The approved interface was recreated in Webflow using modular sections and reusable components.
The structure was kept organized so future pages could be added without creating unnecessary styling inconsistencies.

CMS Setup

Webflow CMS provides a scalable foundation for content such as:
Portfolio projects
Team members
Testimonials
Industry-related content
Future insights or updates
This gives the company more flexibility as the business grows.

Responsive Optimization

Each important section was individually refined for desktop, tablet, and mobile.
Particular attention was given to:
Large property imagery
Service grids
Industry sections
Team profiles
Forms
Project cards
Navigation
This keeps both the visual quality and conversion journey consistent across devices.

Testing

Before launch, I reviewed:
Navigation
Forms
CTA links
Service pages
Industry pages
Portfolio content
FAQ interactions
Mobile layouts
Image responsiveness
Browser compatibility

Launch

The final stage focused on performance, accessibility, responsive consistency, SEO foundations, form usability, and overall presentation quality.

9. Final Result

The final B.B. Hill Landscaping website transforms a broad commercial landscaping operation into a clear, professional, and easy-to-understand digital experience.
Visitors can immediately see that the company specializes in commercial properties, explore the services relevant to their needs, identify experience within their specific industry, review project work, learn about the people behind the business, and move directly toward scheduling a walkthrough.
The website also shifts the conversation away from landscaping as a commodity.
Instead of competing only on mowing, trimming, or price, the experience positions B.B. Hill around reliability, responsiveness, full-service expertise, relationships, and consistent property care.
Separating services from industries also makes the website more useful for commercial decision-makers. A property manager can understand both what B.B. Hill provides and how those services apply specifically to the type of property they manage.
The Webflow implementation provides a scalable foundation for future projects, team members, service expansion, and content while keeping the visual system consistent.
The result is a modern, trust-focused Webflow website that presents B.B. Hill Landscaping as an experienced commercial property partner, not simply another landscaping contractor, and gives potential clients a clear path from discovering the company to scheduling their first property walkthrough.
