1. Project Overview

CT Moving & Storage is a family-owned moving and storage company serving residential and commercial customers throughout Connecticut.
The business offers local and long-distance moving, commercial relocations, packing support, climate-controlled storage, and related moving services. With more than 50 years of industry experience and thousands of positive customer reviews, trust and reliability are central to the brand.
The goal of this project was to create a Webflow website that made a stressful service feel much easier to understand and book.
I focused on building a clear customer journey:
Understand the Service → Build Trust → Explore Options → Check Coverage → Request a Quote
The final experience brings together service information, pricing transparency, social proof, local SEO content, educational resources, and strong conversion pathways.

2. The Challenge

Moving is already stressful.
Customers are trusting a company with their homes, furniture, personal belongings, schedules, and sometimes an entire business operation.
That means the website has to answer important questions quickly:
Can I trust this company?
Do they handle my type of move?
Do they serve my area?
What happens to my belongings?
Is storage available?
How much will it cost?
How do I get an estimate?
Can I speak to someone quickly?
The challenge was organizing a large amount of service and location content without making the website difficult to navigate.
The experience needed to:
Communicate credibility immediately
Separate moving, packing, and storage services clearly
Support residential and commercial customers
Make quote requests simple
Present customer reviews prominently
Explain service areas without overwhelming users
Create strong local-search landing pages
Make pricing and process information easier to find
Provide a strong mobile experience
Support educational content through a scalable CMS
The design strategy was therefore centered around reducing uncertainty at every stage of the customer journey.

3. Design Strategy

I structured the experience around four priorities:
Trust → Clarity → Convenience → Conversion

Establish Trust Immediately

The first interaction needed to reassure visitors that CT Moving & Storage is an established local company.
I used trust signals such as:
50+ years of experience
2,000+ 5-star Google reviews
Family-owned positioning
Professional crews
Insurance messaging
Dependable scheduling
Damage-free service positioning
These elements help reduce the risk customers naturally associate with choosing a moving company.

Simplify the Services

Instead of presenting moving as one broad offering, I separated the experience into clear service pathways.
Visitors can quickly identify whether they need:
Local moving
Long-distance moving
Commercial moving
Packing
Storage
Loading/unloading
Specialized moving support
This reduces the amount of searching a visitor needs to do before taking action.

Make the Next Step Obvious

The primary conversion action is a free quote.
Rather than hiding the quote request on a single contact page, I positioned it throughout the website at natural decision points.
Phone support also provides an alternative route for people who prefer speaking directly with the company.

Support Local Discovery

Because CT Moving & Storage serves communities throughout Connecticut, location architecture became an important part of both UX and SEO.
County and town-specific pages help customers quickly understand whether the company serves their area while giving the business stronger visibility for local searches.

4. UX/UI Design

Hero Section

The hero was designed around a simple promise:
When life keeps you moving, we make it easier.
The interface immediately combines the value proposition with strong trust indicators and a clear quote CTA.
Instead of overloading the opening section with every service, I focused on the most important information first:
Who they are → What they do → Why you can trust them → How to get started

Visual Hierarchy

The homepage follows a clear progression:
Value Proposition → Trust → Services → Reviews → FAQ → Service Areas → Company Experience → Quote Request
This mirrors the questions a customer naturally asks while choosing a moving company.
The hierarchy allows high-intent visitors to request a quote quickly while giving more cautious visitors enough information to continue evaluating the business.

Service Cards

The main service categories are presented through clear reusable cards.
Key pathways include:
Moving Services
Storage Solutions
Packing Services
Each card gives the visitor a quick overview and a direct route into more detailed information.
This keeps the homepage easy to scan while allowing deeper service pages to handle the details.

Typography System

I used a strong typography hierarchy to make information-heavy pages easier to scan.
Styles were created for:
Hero messaging
Service titles
Pricing information
Customer reviews
FAQs
Location headings
Blog content
Calls-to-action
Large headlines communicate key benefits while supporting copy remains shorter and easier to digest.

Color & Visual Direction

The visual direction needed to communicate reliability without feeling overly corporate.
I used a clean service-business aesthetic with:
Strong brand accents
High-contrast CTAs
Real moving imagery
Professional team photography
Clear iconography
Generous spacing
Structured cards
The goal was to make the company feel experienced, approachable, and dependable.

Social Proof

Customer reviews play a major role in the decision-making process.
The business currently highlights more than 2,000 5-star Google reviews and a 4.9-star average, making social proof one of the strongest trust assets available to the website.
Rather than placing reviews only at the bottom of the homepage, I used them throughout important conversion areas.
This helps reinforce confidence as users move closer to requesting an estimate.

Moving Services Experience

The moving section separates different customer needs instead of treating every move the same way.
Relevant pathways include:
Local Moving
Long-Distance / Out-of-State Moving
Commercial Moving
Student Moving
Loading and Unloading
The service experience also communicates key benefits such as upfront pricing, experienced crews, dependable scheduling, and careful handling.

Storage Experience

Storage required its own experience because customers may need it independently or as part of a move.
The website explains the climate-controlled storage offering and common use cases such as:
Moving between homes
New home construction
Renovations
Temporary transitions
Combined moving and storage
CT Moving & Storage also supports a combined workflow where belongings can be moved directly into its Southington storage facility and delivered again when the customer is ready.
This makes the service easier to understand as a complete solution rather than two unrelated offerings.

Commercial Moving Experience

Commercial clients have different concerns from residential customers.
Downtime, logistics, office furniture, IT equipment, elevators, loading access, and scheduling can all affect the project.
I gave commercial moving its own pathway to communicate the additional planning involved and position the company as capable of handling more complex relocations.
This keeps business-focused messaging separate from the residential customer journey.

FAQ Experience

Moving customers often arrive with very specific concerns.
The FAQ answers practical questions such as:
Residential moving
Condo moves
Furniture protection
Floor protection
Pod/container loading
Rental truck loading
Service areas
The accordion-style experience keeps the page clean while allowing users to quickly open the answers relevant to them.

Service Area Experience

CT Moving & Storage serves customers throughout Connecticut, including counties such as Hartford, New Haven, Fairfield, Litchfield, Tolland, Middlesex, Windham, and New London.
I structured location pages to give customers locally relevant information without making the main navigation overcrowded.
Each location page can support:
Local moving information
Storage availability
Packing services
Reviews
Pricing pathways
FAQs
Quote CTAs
This creates a scalable local SEO system inside Webflow CMS.

Responsive Experience

Mobile optimization was essential because many moving customers search and compare companies from their phones.
I focused on:
Simplified navigation
Clear click-to-call actions
Large quote buttons
Readable service cards
Responsive reviews
Easy FAQ interaction
Simple forms
Clean content stacking
Fast access to pricing and service areas
The mobile experience maintains the same trust and conversion flow without simply shrinking the desktop design.

5. Website Architecture

The website architecture was organized around the different reasons someone might visit the site.

Homepage

Acts as the main introduction and conversion page.
It combines:
Brand Promise → Services → Trust → Reviews → FAQs → Coverage → Quote CTA

Local Moving

Creates a dedicated pathway for customers moving within Connecticut.

Long-Distance Moving

Supports customers moving beyond their local area or out of state.

Warehousing

Supports larger residential and commercial storage needs, including construction materials, retail inventory, rack storage, transfers, and other logistics requirements.

Service Areas

These pages help customers confirm availability while supporting local organic search.

This gives the business an ongoing SEO and customer-education channel.

The primary conversion experience allows visitors to request pricing or speak directly with the company.
The flow explains what happens after submission:

6. Webflow Development

Once the UX structure and visual direction were approved, I translated the website into a responsive Webflow build.
The development approach focused heavily on scalability because the site includes multiple services, blog posts, and a large number of location-specific pages.

7. Design & Development Process

Research → UX Structure → Wireframes → UI Design → Design System → Webflow Development → CMS Setup → Responsive Optimization → Testing → Launch

Research

I started by understanding the different customer types, available services, coverage areas, major customer concerns, and the information someone needs before trusting a moving company.
The core question was:
What would make someone feel confident enough to trust this company with everything they own?

UX Structure

I organized the experience around a simple decision journey:
Can you handle my move? → Can I trust you? → What services do I need? → Do you serve my area? → What will it cost? → How do I get started?
This became the foundation of the website.

Wireframes

I mapped the primary content hierarchy before detailed styling.
This included:
Hero
Trust signals
Services
Reviews
Storage
FAQs
Service areas
Blog content
Quote sections
The goal was to make sure the experience worked before focusing on visual polish.

UI Design

The wireframes were transformed into a professional service-business interface.
The visual system combines strong messaging, real photography, structured cards, customer reviews, clear buttons, and generous spacing.
The design intentionally keeps complicated decorative elements to a minimum so customers can focus on the information they need.

Design System

Reusable styles were created for:
Typography
Buttons
Colors
Service cards
Review cards
Forms
FAQs
Location content
Blog cards
CTA sections
Section spacing
Responsive behavior
This keeps a large website visually consistent.

Webflow Development

The approved interface was translated into reusable Webflow components.
I kept the structure modular so pages could grow without creating inconsistent layouts or unnecessary duplicate styling.

CMS Setup

Webflow CMS was used where scalability was most important.
The structure supports content such as:
Service areas
Blog posts
Moving resources
Reviews
Educational content
This allows new content to be published without rebuilding page layouts manually.

Responsive Optimization

Every important section was refined across desktop, tablet, and mobile.
Special attention was given to forms, location content, navigation, reviews, and CTAs because these elements play a major role in conversion.

Testing

Before launch, I reviewed:
Navigation
Quote forms
Contact actions
Phone links
Service pages
CMS pages
Location pages
FAQs
Responsive layouts
Browser compatibility
Content hierarchy
Image performance

Launch

The final stage focused on page speed, accessibility, local SEO foundations, responsive consistency, form usability, and overall presentation quality.
