There's nothing subtle about the jewellery Ryo Love creates—beautifully handmade resin crystals with chunky chains and suggestive themes. Only releasing small batches every two weeks, none two are the same. But however bold (and rare) her crystals are, she makes sure to outline the love she puts into it and the care she feels for her customers through personal messages and customer care.

Ryo asked me to help her create a more professional brand identity for her small business, and my mission was to make sure her character isn't lost within the high-end world of jewellery. Using a darker colour palette and risqué photography we help set the stage for a gothic look. Adding simplified line illustrations with softer themes, we bring back her own softness into the design.

Lastly we incorporate a modern Didone typeface with triangular serifs that highlights the uniqueness and elegance of the brand with additional support of a classic sans-serif to keep the symmetrical themes that often come up in Ryo's products. The end result is a marriage of the hard, edgy, and eccentric look with more personable values that is welcoming to her consumers.
