BuddyUp is a matchmaking fitness app for runners to find, like and match with nearby training partners. Using our powerful matchmaking tool helps you find the perfect partner to run with you and then hit the road or local park and tick off some goals together.

As the sole Designer for this project, I was responsible for designing all the screen and flow on BuddyUp app. I conducted multiple rounds of research, created sketches, wireframes, and mockups. I delivered final assets and documents, supervised the development, and also verified the live product. I worked alongside the project manager and developer for this project.

The client's existing design lacked user appeal. I had to identify the weaknesses (clunky navigation and confusing visuals) then transform it into an intuitive and visually engaging experience that excites runners.

The current features might not effectively facilitate successful matches. I needed to evaluate whether the app adequately showcases runner profiles, preferences, and goals for compatibility.

The revamp needed to address the client's concerns and create a design they feel confident about publishing. Striking a balance between innovative features and user-friendliness is key.

Creating an aesthetically pleasing app was important, but it shouldn't come at the expense of performance. The challenge was ensuring the app loads quickly and functions smoothly across different devices.

The project manager and I had an initial discussion with the CTO and co-founders of BuddyUp app about their ideas of this application. They showed us about the user persona and functional design of BuddyUp app and the reason why BuddyUp app can be a matchmaking fitness app for runners to find and match with nearby training partners.
