In this project, I partnered with the owner of an IT startup to help them secure a major new client through tailored negotiation coaching. Over the course of 5 strategic sessions, we focused on preparing the client to navigate high-stakes negotiations with confidence and clarity.
Key focus areas included:
BATNA & WATNA Development: We created a clear Best Alternative to a Negotiated Agreement (BATNA) and Worst Alternative to a Negotiated Agreement (WATNA), giving the client a strong foundation and a fallback plan for the negotiation process.
Negotiation Strategy & Scenarios: Together, we developed a comprehensive negotiation strategy, preparing for multiple possible scenarios to ensure the client could adapt smoothly during discussions.
Managing Emotional Triggers: We identified emotional triggers that could arise during negotiations, and worked on techniques to manage them, allowing the client to stay calm and focused on their goals.
Presence in Negotiations: We worked on how to effectively “show up” during negotiations, focusing on body language, communication style, and cultivating a confident and authoritative presence.
