Writers Room is a university–community literary arts program based at Drexel University that brings students and neighbors together through writing, storytelling, and creative collaboration.

JoYLab

Joy Lab (Justice-oriented Youth Education Lab) is an intergenerational collective of youth, community residents, university faculty, and student researchers who center joy as both the root and fruit of educational, racial, and social justice through community-driven programs and participatory action research.
Butterland designed and built Joy Lab’s digital home, translating the collective’s mission into a bright, human-centered visual system that showcases its research, community projects, and intergenerational collaborations.

Second Story Collective

Second Story Collective is a nonprofit initiative reimagining intergenerational co-living and community development in West Philadelphia. Funded for construction, the project brings students and long-term residents together through art, storytelling, and shared housing to build models of connection rather than displacement.
Butterland built the full visual identity and investor pitch deck for Second Story Collective, translating its intergenerational housing model into a cohesive visual system and narrative that communicates the project’s mission, funding blueprint, and community impact.
