The Brand

Wolfe Co. Apparel & Goods is a Canadian clothing brand that is women owned and where my full time job resides. All of the Wolfe Co. Clothes are designed by the owner and then manufactured through out Canada by local artisans. They also have a large variety of other Canadian businesses products that they sell in their Flagship store in Huntsville, Ontario and online.

Challenges

Working for Wolfe Co. Apparel & Goods has been an absolute dream come true but I would be lying if I said I haven't faced some obstacles along the way.
Consistency with Image: Consistency is a challenge that plagues all workers, regardless of their field or expertise. It requires discipline, dedication, and a healthy dose of motivation. However, it is achievable if one is willing to put in the effort and stay focused on the end goal. With the brand the idea of consistency was based on keeping the brands image alive and true to the brands key focal points.
Layouts: Even the smallest deviations can throw off the entire balance of a design, leaving it feeling unpolished and haphazard. This previous and ongoing project has taught me a lot in the world of Layouts and how a piece conceptually comes together and how easy it is to mess up an entire design idea you had.

The idea began out of a personal struggle to find clothing made in Canada; the companies we were so naive to believe were always Canadian were in fact, not. With marketing campaigns making us believe one thing, the origin labels said otherwise. - Wolfe Co.

Process

Whenever I am designing a project not matter what I will always follow a step by step plan, otherwise it can become overwhelming if not broken down.
A meeting or collection of data. This allows me to get everything I need in order for organization within my calendar (Ex. the brand I may be designing for, what is the overall feel is or what they want, their ideas on said projects so they can be included in the design process and etc...)
I will began to do super quick sketches of ideas that come to me based on the data I collected from said meetings or such. Then make many small sketch prototypes I begin on the good versions of the rough designs I've come up with. This stage also includes mood boards to help give me inspiration.
I will then upload the good versions of the designs and start tweaking basic layouts to make sure everything fits together, and if I discover it doesn't then I adjust or start again.
After the basic layouts are done it's time to play around with the brands chosen colour palettes and fonts, trying to piece it together as if it were its own puzzle. This is pretty much the end stage because after those tweaks and such I usually have a finished product that I can present to my boss!
