This is a beauty brand that strives for elegance, professionalism and simplicity. They are a vegan, cruelty-free and all natural, never using any harsh chemicals. Not only do they provide make-up products but also skin care. Because one is entitled to healthy skin that goes hand in hand with creating the perfect make-up look. Disclaimer: this is also not a real brand but one I came up with myself.
Challenges
It is important to ensure that a brand you are designing is versatile enough to be used across various mediums and platforms. That was a main focus for this project that defiantly lead to complications, but nothing I couldn't fix!
Brain storming: Creating a design that accurately represents the company's values and mission, since this is a fake business. One I designed for practice I had to come up with not just a look for a brand but the entirety of it, including it's values.
Avoidance: I had a vision and idea of how I wanted this brand identity to look so I needed to avoid clichés and overly generic designs.
Process
Design is all about intentionality. It’s not enough to have a vague idea of what you want to achieve - you need a process that takes you from ideation to execution.
First I needed to come up with some inspiration for what it is I wanted to do. So I went on a journey putting together a board of ideas and making notes.
Once I had a solid Idea of what I wanted and how I wanted it to look, I needed to create somewhat of a fake brand. A list of brand values, goals to help get an understanding how how to execute the final design.
Then I got to work on coming up with a design that I wanted to look elegant, luxurious and made to last. Once I finally got a final product I started to put together a board of brand photos, types I used and colours.
I then added it all to carousel type of post and added it to socials!
When designing a brand, there are a multitude of challenges that one can face. The first challenge is creating a unique identity for the brand that will make it stand out from its competitors.
