Davey Japan: Vehicle Import Site, Mobile-First

Davey Japan handles the full cycle of importing vehicles from Japan: sourcing, inspection, international delivery. The business had grown well past its original New Zealand focus and now serves clients globally. The website had not kept pace. It still read as a regional operation, and the visual language did not reflect the scale of what the company had become.
Scope. Nine pages: Home, country homepages, About, Services, Contact, Blog, Blog Post, Cars for Import, FAQ. The work was not only aesthetic. The information architecture had to communicate international presence, surface the right services to the right regional audience, and support visible calls to action at every stage.
Mobile first as the design priority. The existing layouts were built for desktop and degraded on smaller screens, which is a serious problem when the audience makes high consideration decisions on a phone. Every layout was designed from the mobile view outward, with scalable components that hold their hierarchy across screen sizes instead of being rebuilt per breakpoint.
Where the commercial weight sits. Services and Cars for Import were structured to move a visitor from general interest to specific inquiry with minimal friction: clear service descriptions, visible pricing structures where applicable, and CTAs that do not require scrolling to find.
Content surfaces. Blog and Blog Post templates were built to stay consistent enough for brand coherence and flexible enough for different formats. The FAQ was restructured around the questions international buyers actually ask, organised by stage of the import process.
SEO protected, not gambled. Existing URL structures, heading hierarchies, and metadata patterns were preserved and refined rather than replaced, so the search visibility the business had built survived the redesign.
Timeline: 4 weeks. Year: 2026. I led UX and web design across all nine pages.
