Failed Hobbies doesn't just sell candles—it shares stories through scent with cheeky phrases capture life's not-so-perfect moments. With perfectly relatable themes (The Dog's My Personality Now, anyone?) and photo-worthy labels, this IG-worthy brand needed an equally colorful website to match.
I worked through Good Spark Studio and was tasked with developing a solid store that looked robust with only a single line of candles--and only product mockups. The art direction required full saturation, definitely an in-your-face aesthetic.
On top of the visual constraints, the store needed systems that could grow beyond candles into home goods, prints, and apparel. To achieve this, I built out the back-end store logic with custom metafields, bundles, and a candle customizer that could grow with inventory. The metafields will allow for robust merchandising and filtering, even if apps are added in the future.
