Designing a Trusted B2B Marketplace for Agency Discovery

Refetrust is a dual-sided web platform that connects business owners with verified service agencies. The challenge was to create a product that two fundamentally different user types would trust and return to. Business owners needed confidence in the quality of the agencies they found. Agency owners needed a compelling reason to claim and maintain their profiles. We took the product from zero to a fully prototyped platform, built on the Untitled UI design system, that balances marketplace credibility with a clear monetization path through sponsored listings.

The Trust Problem at the Center of Every B2B Marketplace

Most agency directories fail for the same reason: they are glorified lists. They offer no reliable signal of quality, no structured way to compare providers, and no reason for agencies to invest in their presence. Our client saw this gap clearly - the market needed a platform where verified reviews from real business professionals carried actual weight, and where agencies had a direct incentive to keep their profiles complete and accurate. The monetization model through sponsored listings only works if the underlying trust infrastructure is solid. A business owner who does not trust the results will ignore sponsored placements entirely. This meant the UX had to serve credibility first, and commercial visibility second - in that order.

A Dual-Sided Platform Built Around Verified Discovery

We designed a complete marketplace ecosystem that included:
A structured homepage with category-based agency browsing, featured listings, and social proof through verified business owner testimonials.
A filterable agency listing page with multi-parameter search across location, pricing model, services offered, industry, provider size, and star rating.
A rich agency profile page covering the company overview, pricing, services, industries, portfolio, verified reviews, office locations, and an AI-powered similar agency recommendation module.
A sponsored listing and profile claim system giving agency owners a clear path to increase their visibility within the platform.
A review submission flow designed to collect structured, credible feedback from business professionals with verified experience.
A Blog and Research section supporting SEO growth and positioning Refetrust as an industry authority.

Information Architecture Designed for Two Audiences Simultaneously

The core design challenge was that every structural decision affected both sides of the marketplace differently. A filter that helps a business owner narrow results quickly also determines how an agency owner thinks about completing their profile. We mapped both user journeys in parallel during the Discovery phase, identifying where their goals aligned and where they created tension. The agency profile page became the centerpiece of this work - it had to be detailed enough to satisfy a business owner doing serious due diligence while remaining manageable enough for an agency to fill out and maintain. We resolved this by structuring the profile into clearly separated modules - company overview, pricing, services, portfolio, and reviews - so each section had a standalone purpose and agencies could build their presence incrementally.

Discovery-Led Design for a Complex Marketplace Structure

Mapping the Dual-Sided User Logic

During the Discovery phase, we ran structured sessions to define exactly what each user type needed at every stage of their journey. For business owners, the critical moments were search entry, result filtering, profile evaluation, and review reading. For agency owners, the key interactions were profile claiming, content completion, and sponsored placement. By documenting these flows before touching any UI, we avoided the most common marketplace design failure - optimizing heavily for one side at the expense of the other. This parallel mapping also gave us a clear brief for the information hierarchy on every page.

Design System Execution and Prototype Delivery

We built the platform on the Untitled UI design system, which gave the development team a reliable and well-documented component foundation from day one. Rather than creating a custom system from scratch, this decision accelerated delivery without sacrificing quality - every component was production-ready and consistent across the full platform. The final prototype covered the complete user experience for both sides of the marketplace, with all key flows - search, filter, profile view, review submission, and sponsored placement - interactive and ready for developer handoff.

A Market-Ready Platform with a Clear Path to Monetization

The project resulted in a complete design delivery that gave the client everything needed to move directly into development. The handoff package included full UI coverage across both sides of the marketplace, an implemented Untitled UI design system adapted to the platform's visual identity, interactive prototypes for all primary user flows, and documented component logic for the development team. By grounding every design decision in the dual-sided user structure established during Discovery, we gave Refetrust a product where the monetization layer - sponsored listings and featured placements - sits naturally within a platform that business owners already trust.

A Credible Foundation for a Scalable B2B Marketplace

The platform gives Refetrust a strong structural foundation to grow both sides of its marketplace simultaneously. The design supports the business model directly - sponsored placements are visible and contextually relevant, never feeling like intrusive ads, because the surrounding content earns the user's attention first. Key outcomes included a fully prototyped, two-sided platform ready for development with no design gaps; a scalable component system that supports adding new service categories, geographies, and agency types without layout rework; and a review and profile architecture that gives agencies a clear incentive to invest in their presence, which in turn improves the quality of results for business owners on the other side.
