Human beings are born with the natural urge to communicate, socialize, and build relations with other human beings. Over history, communication methods developed to help ease the connection created between people, from tangible ways such as visiting each other and talking face to face to the invention of social media platforms, which has proven a great success that it became an integral part of our society having a countless number of users. However, numerous negative effects on young adults are associated with the popularity and evolution of social networking platforms. The reason behind this is how excessively society sheds the spotlight on perfect-looking lives and sells them as the norm of Egyptian society. Although some people might think that social media would motivate youth to change their lives for the better, it can also be one of the greatest discouragement sources. Therefore, a policy for filtering harmful social media content should be applied to limit its adverse effects on Egyptian youngsters, such as depression, a hive mentality, and disrupted sleeping patterns.
