Context

Feedo is a Hyperlocal Events Community application based on the idea of exploring community events near you based on your interests. It was just an idea when we worked on its MVP in the final year of college. Following that, I Pivoted the notion into something intriguing, tackling all the UX and Product Challenges.

Trying to Figure out the Problem

Since I experienced this problem and wanted to build a product around it, I wanted to make sure whether it is real problem or not. So after conducting a minor survey and setting my target group, I decided to confirm whether I am going in the right direction or not. I did some ground research about the idea.
Problems I found out in the idea when I was conducting research

The Challenge

Now the idea was not valid and ethical to go forward so I need to pivot my idea into something useful and should be a problem in general
Again I conducted a few surveys and interviews to get to know the people and what they think about communities.
Eight interviews were conducted with College Students and Office Employees with different sets of domains and interests in their respective fields. I prepared a set of questions and engaged the interviewees in a conversation which resulted in me grabbing the essential pain points.
People concern about the Idea
An increasing number of location-annotated content available from social media channels like Twitter, Instagram, Foursquare and others are reflecting users' local activities and their attention like never before. In particular, we now have enough available data to start extracting real-time local information from social media. This is what drove me to pursue this problem statement and pivot the idea into something else.

Refining problem statement

A look into the local interviews pushed me to dig deeper into the core of this problem.
Based on the research, I was surprised, there isn’t any hyperlocal platform that is solving this problem. Though there are platforms like Bookmyshow, Dice, etc who are allowing users to book tickets but not giving them the liberty to explore new communities and events near them. Rather, they are struggling in finding the “right” communities bases application. Moreover, with a lot of conflicting priorities, it’s finding similar interests in people around them.

I realized that helping users find a “Hyperlocal Community” quickly is the key.

Key findings from my research

- Users should be able to explore New events every day
- Users should be able to connect with their fellow friends and invite them for attending the event together
- If the user doesn’t want to socialize, he/she should be able to control the privacy terms to connect i.e., who can send him/her request.
- Through gamification, users can be able to give feedo scores to the event, artists, and community. With the help of that feedo score, other users will be able to differentiate whether it’s good or not
- Users these days have a short attention span and giving them something relevant content about their interests will hook them into Feedo-like Instagram reels.
- Users should be able to organize online stream events.

Approaching the solution

Emphasizing progress through a visual, personal, and reflective experience 🌳
Leveraging my key findings and persona attributes, I understood that the ideal solution must be able to connect users closer to their own actions and consequences such as categorization and privacy. From that, I arrived at the approach of mirroring one’s own choice of decision and socialization, breaking down the long process of collaboration and connection into smaller, more frequent preventive measures to secure one’s privacy.
