An EdTech Platform Running 10x Faster, After Another Agency Failed

A school had already paid one agency to build their student-teacher platform — and been left with nothing that worked. They came to me to rebuild it from scratch. The result: an EdTech platform now used by 100+ schools across 16 districts, 1,000+ daily active students, running 10x faster than competitors.
I led design and development across web and mobile.

100+ Schools onboarded
16 Districts
1,000+ Daily active students
10x Faster than competitors

Industry: Education / EdTech
Stack: React.js, JavaScript
Platforms: Web + Mobile App
Services: Web Design, Web Development, Mobile App Development, SaaS App Development

Working with Boomdevs felt like having a true partner by our side. After a failed attempt with another agency, they really took the time to understand what we were trying to build and made it even better. They're the kind of team you want in your corner.

— Aditya Rao, Founder, BatchLearn

Starting from a failed build

BatchLearn connects students with teachers for class content, study guides, test reviews, and live exam-prep sessions. But when the founder came to me, they weren't starting fresh — they were starting over. A previous agency had failed to deliver the platform.
That changes the job. It's not just "build this" — it's "rebuild trust, understand what went wrong, and ship something that actually works." I started by taking the time the last team didn't: understanding the vision before writing code.

The challenge: live classes that can't lag

The hardest technical demand was real-time teaching at scale. The platform had to host live classes with screen sharing, whiteboard sharing, and file sharing — lag-free, for many concurrent users at once. In EdTech, lag isn't a minor annoyance; it breaks the lesson. A teacher mid-explanation can't buffer.
On top of that: a scalable architecture that grows with demand without slowing down, and a flexible subscription system serving both individual students and whole schools.

What I built

The platform spans web and a mobile app, built on React.js with a focus on lightweight, optimized code — which is exactly why it runs 10x faster than competitors. The core systems:
Live class management — screen sharing, whiteboard, and document sharing for real-time teaching
Four role-based dashboards — Super Admin, Teacher, Student, and Parent, each with the right tools and analytics
Parental controls — parents monitor progress, participation, and activity
Advanced calendar & notifications — class scheduling with timely student reminders
Flexible subscriptions — tailored to both students and schools
I ran the build in SCRUM sprints, which proved essential — the client pivoted their business model mid-project, and the iterative approach absorbed the change without derailing the timeline. A priority throughout: matching the original Figma designs with precision, so the delivered product looked exactly as intended.

The hard part

Lag-free live streaming for many concurrent users is one of the genuinely hard problems in web development — it's where a lot of EdTech platforms quietly fail. The fix wasn't one trick; it was discipline: lightweight, optimized code at every layer and an architecture built to scale servers with demand. That discipline is what produced the 10x speed advantage — and why a platform built second, after a failure, outperforms competitors built first.

The outcome

100+ schools onboarded across 16 districts
1,000+ daily active students, with ~100 live classes hosted weekly
10x faster than competitors, even during peak hours
A platform that turned a failed project into a growing EdTech success

Being the second team to attempt a build is a hard place to start — and the best place to prove that how you build is the whole difference.
