A platform that combines machine learning and AI to simplify the creation of accessible documents for low vision and blind people.

The Problem & Solution 🤝

Education space has very inefficient processes regarding how it approaches accessible formats production and delivery. The key players in the chain - accessibility services specialists, teachers, students, and publishers often lack good communication and cooperation. As a result, low vision and blind students may experience delays in receiving accessible materials or receiving them in parts which can affect their academic performance.

I designed a SaaS web app that guides the user through the document transcription process through a wizard.

Results 🎁

Setting up a 5-step wizard-driven approach allowed us to connect AI and machine learning technologies in the back end and create an easy-to-use front-end experience for the user.

I led the project from the initial idea to a working product that is currently being tested and used in the education space in the US and Canada.

Takeaways 📣

Tying in AI and accessibility, combined with user interactions has been a challenging project for me as a designer.

It was important to communicate and collaborate tightly with the development team, learn the accessibility standards and understand how machine learning works.
