Designing a PMPS (Pump Management Petrol System)

About the App The Pump Management Petrol System (PMPS) is an internal mobile application designed specifically for the high-pressure, fast-paced environment of a petrol station. It serves as a centralized digital hub, replacing all paper-based processes.

The platform provides attendants with a simple tool to manage their shifts and track sales, while offering managers real-time, data-driven visibility into their entire operation. It’s built for clarity, speed, and reliability.

The Goal
To design an intuitive internal mobile app that completely replaces the station's error-prone paper system.
To streamline shift and inventory management, making daily tasks faster and completely error-free.
To ensure effortless adoption by designing a tool that feels natural and easy for pump attendants to use from day one.
My Approach I started by spending time at the petrol station—observing attendants, asking questions, and learning their daily routine. Since there was no existing app to reference, talking directly to users was essential.
Core Features Designed
ID-Based Login: A simple and secure authentication flow using unique attendant IDs for quick access.

Attendant Clock in and Out: Attendants clock in easily with a single tap and input the starting sale price to confirm the beginning of their shift. At the end of the shift, they input the total volume sold from the dispenser into the app, ensuring accurate and effortless tracking of petrol inventory.

Sales Attendant History & Performance: Records of each attendant's daily sales are stored for analytical purposes.

Inventory Page Design: This was the core of the project's value proposition. I created a live dashboard that serves as the home screen, providing a crystal-clear, real-time view of all fuel inventory. By using clear visualizations of underground petrol containers, I mirrored the physical experience within the app, enabling attendants and managers to understand stock levels at a single glance. This feature automatically updates with every logged sale, eliminating guesswork and preventing potentially costly run-outs..

The Outcome
The designs were handed off to the development team with detailed specs and an interactive prototype. The app was developed successfully for internal use:
Eliminated paper logs and reduced administrative errors to near zero.
Provided real-time operational clarity for the first time.
Received positive feedback from attendants for its ease of use and simplicity.
