Moving App UX/UI Design for Seniors 60+ | Movin

Movin is an iOS and Android mobile app that helps older adults find, compare and book trusted moving services in one place. The platform combines AI-assisted room scanning, transparent service tiers and a secure checkout into a single, guided flow designed specifically for users aged 60+. Our goal was to create a mobile app design that feels intuitive, empathy-driven and high-trust, where every screen reduces stress instead of adding to it. The UX/UI design was delivered in 4 weeks.

Moving is stressful for everyone. For the 60+ demographic, it is overwhelming. Older adults face the fear of hidden fees, confusing digital interfaces and a general lack of transparency in the moving industry. A mismatch between what users expect and what they actually receive often leads to frustration and negative reviews.

The challenge was to design a product that goes beyond selling moving services and gives users what they really need: reassurance and clarity at every single touchpoint.

As a product design and UX strategy team, we focused on three core pillars.

First, eliminating cognitive overload: we stripped away complex navigation and unnecessary steps, creating a linear, predictable user journey.

Second, absolute transparency: clear service tiers and upfront pricing structures manage expectations and build trust.

Third, an empathy-driven UI: from reassuring microcopy to a high-contrast, accessible dark theme, every touchpoint holds the user's hand through the process.

A high-contrast dark theme with distinct yellow accents, large typography, generous white space and predictable navigation minimizes eye strain and reduces the learning curve. Robotic microcopy was replaced with reassuring, human-centric messaging, from explaining insurance policies to confirming payments.

An AI-assisted room scanning tool estimates moving volume. A context-aware smart search proactively suggests room-specific, heavy-duty items that scanners might miss, giving moving companies precise weight and volume data with minimal user effort.

Separate map layouts with color-coded pins for Origin and Destination let users verify their route at a glance. Clear payment confirmation screens remove financial anxiety and lead smoothly to the active order dashboard.

The project delivered a complete, accessible mobile app experience that guides older adults from the first estimate to secure payment without confusion or hidden surprises. Movin now has a scalable design system built on high contrast, Manrope typography and touch-friendly components, giving the product a strong UI foundation for future development.
