Website Redesign for French Creative Space

Olga OKAD

If your website doesn’t work as hard as your space does, you’re not just losing visitors — you’re burning opportunities. In the cultural and creative industries, where physical experience matters, your digital presence is often the first — and sometimes only — impression.

A clunky interface, outdated visuals, or confusing navigation can silently kill engagement, sabotage ticket sales, and make even the most soulful venues feel inaccessible. Those who neglect their online experience don’t just miss out — they fade into irrelevance, while others tell their story better.

Project Overview

This case involved the full redesign of a website for a creative space located in France — an artistic venue known for events, cultural programming, and its atmospheric garden. The goal was to transform the site into a modern, intuitive, and aesthetic digital experience that would not only communicate the space’s personality but also boost conversions through ticket sales.

Key Goals

Convey the softness, creativity, and flow of the physical space through design.
Prioritize usability for all audiences, including older visitors and non-tech-savvy users.
Empower the client to manage and update content independently.
Create a design that feels timeless and immersive — and works beautifully on all devices.

Design Solutions

1. Interactive Map as Navigation
We created a fully interactive map of the space to help visitors explore the venue online before even setting foot in it. Users can hover over key areas, click through to event pages, and get a real feel for how the venue is structured.
2. Dynamic Image Gallery
Inspired by the organic atmosphere of the garden and studio spaces, we built a free-form image gallery. Images vary in size and placement, creating an intentional sense of visual rhythm that mimics the spontaneous beauty of the real space.
3. Organic Visual Language
To reflect the venue’s identity, we incorporated:
Curved backgrounds and flowing lines.
Rounded buttons and UI elements.
A warm, nature-inspired color palette. These elements come together to create a sense of calm and creativity throughout the site.
4. Typography Curation
We tested over 12 font combinations to strike the right balance between legibility and elegance. The final choice communicates creativity without compromising accessibility — essential for a broad and diverse audience.
5. Built on Framer for Flexibility
We chose Framer for its clean visual interface, low-code environment, and built-in design responsiveness. By minimizing scripts and relying on native Framer functionality, we reduced maintenance costs while keeping the site fast and scalable.
6. Client Empowerment Through Training
To future-proof the solution, we recorded a full set of tutorial videos in both French and English, covering:
Editing dynamic content blocks.
Managing event schedules.
Publishing multilingual pages.
Using Framer’s component system to make layout adjustments independently.

UX and Structure Enhancements

Minimalist Homepage: Focused on what matters — an introduction to the venue, a call-to-action for ticket purchases, and easy access to current events.
Streamlined Navigation: Simplified the information architecture to remove clutter, flatten menus, and improve discoverability.
Audience-Centric Layouts: We made sure the site feels intuitive to older users by avoiding overly experimental layouts or complex interactions.

Outcomes

Aesthetic upgrade that communicates the venue’s personality through design.
Improved usability across all devices and demographics.
Lower support and update costs thanks to Framer’s built-in tools.
Easy content management by the internal team.
A timeless, emotionally resonant site that will serve the brand for years to come.

Takeaways

For cultural spaces, digital design must do more than look good — it needs to work beautifully, convert efficiently, and adapt over time. With a thoughtful combination of modern UX principles, visual storytelling, and low-maintenance tech, even small teams can have powerful platforms that grow with them.
