Medtech brands have a narrow corridor to design in.

Too clinical and the brand feels institutional, fine for a hospital system but wrong for a startup that needs to move fast and convince investors, medical partners, and distributors simultaneously.
Too startup and the clinical credibility that makes the product trustworthy disappears. Most brands in this space land somewhere uncomfortable in the middle.
Fortegen is developing a smarter, more ergonomic alternative to the traditional orthopedic walking boot. The R&D was complete, a working prototype existed, and the team was ready to move from product development into market-facing conversations. What they didn't have was a visual identity capable of holding those conversations at the right level.
The brief was precise: a custom logo built from scratch, not a refinement of prior explorations. A brand tone that reads as professional and clinical without reading as cold. A system that scales from investor decks to packaging to digital assets without losing coherence. Documentation clear enough that developers, designers, and press could apply it independently.
The direction was built around restrained geometry and mid-tone blue, sitting between medical authority and technological precision without defaulting to either cliché. The logo mark communicates innovation through structure rather than decoration. Every decision was tested against two contexts simultaneously: a boardroom pitch to a medical distribution partner and a consumer-facing product page two years from now.
The result is a brand system that grows with the company rather than requiring a rebrand at the next funding round.
A medtech startup that looks like it belongs in the market it's entering closes the gap between product credibility and brand credibility before either one becomes a liability.
