SG98 - health-based Smartwatch

SG98, a futuristic health-based Smartwatch, is a voice-activated health management tool designed to integrate essential health metrics into one easily accessible platform seamlessly. This app allows users to monitor their water intake, heart rate, and blood pressure, sleep duration, and keep tabs on their daily step count, including distance covered and calories burned. All of this can be done using simple voice commands, making health management effortless and intuitive.

The problem

Current health-based Smartwatches require multiple interactions, often taking time away from users' busy lives. There's a need for a seamless, voice-activated health management tool that integrates essential health metrics—water intake, heart rate, blood pressure, and sleep duration—into one easily accessible platform.

The goal

The goal of this project was to design and develop a cutting-edge health-based smartwatch that leverages voice command technology to provide a user-friendly and efficient way to manage daily health metrics. By focusing on intuitive voice interactions and clear, concise feedback, the app aims to enhance the user experience, encourage healthy habits, and offer a comprehensive health monitoring solution in a single, convenient platform. This project also serves as a showcase of innovative UX design principles and technical prowess in creating seamless digital health experiences.

User research: summary

I conducted extensive secondary research to understand the current landscape of health monitoring apps and devices. Key findings include:
Health Monitoring Trends: Increasing demand for wearable health tech, with users prioritizing features like heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, and step counting. User Preferences: Users prefer apps that are easy to use, provide clear feedback, and integrate multiple health metrics into one platform. Voice Command Technology: Growing interest in voice-activated functionalities due to their convenience and hands-free operation, particularly in busy or multitasking environments.

User research: pain points

Persona

Problem Statement:
Sarah, a busy marketing manager, struggles with the inconvenience of navigating multiple apps to monitor her health metrics. She needs a streamlined, voice-activated health app that provides instant, real-time updates on her fitness and wellness data, all in one place, to maintain her active lifestyle efficiently.

User journey map

Goal: Easily monitor and manage health metrics using a voice-activated smartwatch app.

Paper wireframes

The primary goal when creating the paper wireframes was to quickly sketch the watch's essential functionality and user flow, aiming for an intuitive and user-friendly interface, while not focusing on intricate design details.

Paper wireframes - refined

I improved the initial wireframes by refining the original sketches, which enhanced functionality and flow.

Digital wireframes

When creating digital wireframes, I refined and expanded upon the concepts established by paper wireframes, aiming for a coherent and seamless user experience. Careful consideration was given to the precision of the layout, the functionality of interactive elements, and the inclusion of accessibility features.

Takeaways

1. User-Centric Design:
Designing with the user’s needs and preferences in mind is crucial. By focusing on intuitive voice commands and seamless integration of multiple health metrics, the app significantly enhances the user experience, making health management more accessible and efficient.
2. Accessibility is Key:
Incorporating accessibility features such as voice command functionality, clear speech playback, and a high-contrast interface ensures that the app is usable by a broader range of people, including those with disabilities.
