Introduction

The dream app is a concept based using AI to analyse dreams and connect life events to dream activity.

Process and impact

We began by conducting sessions with the CEO to understand the app's core purpose, the thinking behind it, the value it should provide to users, and any insights gathered about user goals and needs. We outlined key tasks users would want to complete and identified use cases, which helped us determine the features and functionality needed to deliver the best user experience. We then prioritised these features based on importance, working with both the CEO and development team to assess what was feasible within the client's timeline and technical constraints.
Once this information was gathered, we mapped out key user journeys to identify essential screens and ensure there were no dead ends or gaps in the flow. We then created detailed user flows that flagged critical actions and decision points, allowing us to identify where APIs would need to be implemented and where user data validation would be required.
With a clear view of the architecture, we moved into wireframing. We worked at mid-fidelity to capture key information and data points efficiently. Throughout this phase, we held regular sessions with the CEO to review specific flows, gather feedback, and iterate accordingly. Once all screens were completed, we created a prototype to test and refine the overall experience. While we would typically conduct user testing at this stage to validate the journeys and features, this was out of scope as the client only required an MVP for proof of concept.
After receiving CEO sign-off, we explored visual design concepts for the UI. The stakeholder requested a dark, mysterious, and moody aesthetic to ensure the app stood out from competitors. Once a direction was approved, we developed the foundational components for the design system, including button states and styles, input fields, modals, typography, alerts, and icons. We then applied the UI to all screens and built out additional components as needed. Finally, we delivered a comprehensive design system with detailed documentation to the development team for implementation.
