Establishing The Circular Shift as a strong new actor in Lisbon's sustainable tourism industry.

Brand

The logo: Finding a symbol that links Lisbon, travelling and sustainability : The Barn Swallow, messenger of spring.
A familiar symbol in Portuguese culture, the swallow (Andorinha) is today an icon of the national folklore, and an object found in every portuguese home. 
A traveller : the barn swallow is a migratory bird. Swallows hang out in Portugal for some of the same reasons humans do: warm weather and great food. 
An element of nature: it’s an animal - giving a direct clue to Nature in the logo. It is not a particularly threatened species, although its population has decreased by 36% in Portugal between 2004 and 2023. 
Colours: a sunny, bright palette with warm neutrals and natural tones.
 We use warm neutrals: a warm off-white for white and a dark brown for black, that give our visuals softness and bring the palette an earthy, natural feel. With an earthy, natural tone we give a hint to the sustainability rooted in the project. The palette has 6 bright natural-toned colours, 3 warm sunny colours, and 3 colder tones of green and blue. The overall palette is fun yet natural, representative of Lisbon’s sun and brightness.
Type: Smart, soft, modern, historic and fun
As primary display typeface, we choose a narrow, neo-grotesk typeface, very up-to-date while being timeless. The well rounded end points give it a super smooth and accessible look, easy on the eyes.
We add a secondary display font to compliment the first: the uneven lines give this font a nice imperfect, human look and its curves make it friendly, while the serifs elevate it with a historic feel.
For text bodies, we choose a highly legible typeface, with sharp edges and clean minimal character shapes, making it serious and confident, while the circular apertures and the curved terminal on the t and y, give it an accessible feel.

Website

The Circular Shift website was designed from scratch on Figma, then initially developed on Webflow, and finally handed over for custom development to add special features and back end.

Social media

Social media templates were designed to fit expected needs, and handed over to be used autonomously by the internal team.

Print design

Several printed assets were needed for the launch of the business : guide booklets, posters, flyers, stickers, kraft bags...
