Designing a User-Friendly Crypto Wallet for Orba

Overview
Orba is a user-focused crypto wallet designed to simplify how individuals buy, sell, send, receive, and manage digital assets. The app provides a clear portfolio overview, streamlined transaction flows, and built-in safeguards to reduce costly errors.
In addition to supporting core crypto functions, Orba enables users to view and convert their fiat across multiple African currencies, making it easier to understand value in local contexts and support cross-currency transactions seamlessly.
My Role
Product Designer : Conducted user and product research, defined product flows, created high fidelity wireframes, prototyped and tested product with target users.

The Problems
Many global crypto apps can feel overwhelming for first-time users. Charts, market prices, tokens, assets, margins, and other crypto-specific information are often presented all at once, making even simple actions feel more complicated than they need to be.
For many users, especially those new to crypto, the need is much simpler: buy, sell, send, swap, and understand how much they actually have.
The challenge becomes even more relevant in the African market, where viewing and understanding the value of crypto assets in local currencies can still feel unnecessarily difficult.
When users struggle to understand what their assets are worth in a currency they already use every day, crypto naturally feels more complex and less accessible.
The Solution
Orba was designed to make crypto transactions simpler, more intuitive, and easier to navigate, especially for users who may be new to crypto.
The app supports multiple African currencies, including NGN, ZAR, GHS, and more, allowing users to view and interact with their assets in currencies they already understand and use every day.
By reducing unnecessary complexity and making crypto feel more familiar, Orba aims to make digital assets more accessible and drive greater crypto adoption across Africa.

Portfolio: This serves as an overview of the value of all assets owned by users , users tracks how much their portfolio is growing or vice versa .
History : Tracks all transactions made on the application so users can accurately monitor all past and most recent transactions
Settings: This serves as a control hub for all key actions on the application

Buy : Users can buy any crypto of their choice and hold in a dedicated wallet assigned to the particular coin on their account.
Sell : Users can sell their coins to receive fiat which can be withdrawn to theri local bank account instantly from the app
Swap : Instant coin swap from one coin to another
Send : Users can send crypto from their balance to another supported wallet address

Design Outcome
The outcome was a simplified crypto experience built around clarity, accessibility, and everyday transactions.
Instead of overwhelming users with complex crypto data, Orba prioritizes the information and actions they need most from understanding their portfolio value and available balance to buying, selling, sending, and receiving crypto.
The multi-currency experience also makes crypto more familiar to African users by allowing them to view their assets in local currencies such as NGN, ZAR, and GHS.
Overall, the product was designed to make crypto feel less intimidating, easier to understand, and more practical for everyday use across Africa.
