This project involved a comprehensive overhaul of the existing platform, focusing on both enhancing the user experience (UX) and streamlining the development process. In this case study, I'll walk you through the key responsibilities I undertook, the impact of my work, and the valuable lessons I learned throughout the journey.

The Challenge

The original MyZOLEO platform presented several challenges. The user flows weren't well-defined, leading to a confusing experience for users. Additionally, the lack of a consistent design language made it difficult for users to form a cohesive understanding of the platform. This also resulted in frequent communication gaps between designers and developers, requiring them to clarify design intent and functionality throughout the development process. These inefficiencies caused delays and increased the risk of inconsistencies in the final product.
The existing MyZOLEO platform lacked clear user flows and consistent design language.
Developers and designers frequently required clarification on design intent and functionality.
This led to inefficiencies, delays, and potential inconsistencies in the final product.

The Approach

To address these challenges, I took a comprehensive approach. I spearheaded the content mapping process, meticulously outlining the goals and functionalities of each user flow and individual screen within the redesign. This involved defining the purpose of each screen, the information it would display, and the actions users could take. Additionally, I established clear logic behind each call-to-action (CTA) element, ensuring that users intuitively understand where each click or tap would take them.
Furthermore, I defined the behavior logic of various design components, ensuring they functioned consistently and responsively across different devices. Finally, I collaborated closely with front-end developers to determine data IDs for all relevant design elements. This collaboration ensured a smooth integration between the visual design and the back-end infrastructure, enabling the developers to effectively implement the design.
I spearheaded the content mapping process, meticulously outlining the intended purpose of each user flow and individual screen.
Established clear logic behind each call-to-action (CTA) to ensure intuitive user journeys.
Defined the logic governing various design components, fostering a responsive and user-friendly interface.
Collaborated with front-end developers to determine data IDs for seamless integration with the back-end infrastructure.

The impact

The impact of my work on the MyZOLEO 2.0 redesign was significant. By clearly documenting the design intent and functionality through content mapping, I was able to increase developer efficiency by 65%. This eliminated the need for developers to make assumptions about functionality, define logic themselves, or request meetings for clarification. This saved valuable time and resources throughout the development process.
Furthermore, I played a crucial role in managing user flows, particularly for incomplete registrations. I meticulously documented the logic governing this specific user journey, specifying the information users see and don't see based on their account status. This information was further translated into a separate flowchart for developers, ensuring clear communication and streamlined development.
Finally, I facilitated a smooth integration between the front-end design and the back-end infrastructure by creating an Airtable list. This list mapped front-end data IDs to their corresponding back-end responses and API calls, ensuring that the developers could accurately translate the design into a functional product.
Increased developer efficiency by 65%, reducing the need for:
Making assumptions about functionality.
Defining logic themselves (potentially causing inconsistencies).
Requesting meetings for clarification.
Clear user flow management for incomplete registrations, specifying what users see based on their account status.
Streamlined API integration through an Airtable list mapping front-end data IDs to back-end responses and API calls.
