Faster, accessible book creation & publishing powered by AI for Story.one

Project summary

Story.one is a platform that makes publishing more accessible by turning book creation into an intuitive, high-quality experience, enabling more people to write, shape, and publish their stories. As part of the LOOP team, Carolina Poch worked closely with the Story.one team to design the Story Editor, an AI-supported tool that guides authors from raw content to a publish-ready structure. The editor is built for speed, clarity, and creative control, helping writers organize chapters, refine narrative flow, and receive smart suggestions while remaining fully in charge of their work. The main challenge was designing a clear and trustworthy editor in a fast-evolving AI landscape. This required continuous testing and iteration to ensure the experience remained intuitive and genuinely helpful. The result is a streamlined, human-centered writing experience that reduces time to publication and makes modern storytelling more accessible.

Carolina's Role

Collaboration with PMs & devs, business owners & AI experts.
MVP scoping.
User journey definition.
User interface design.
UX copywriting.
Prototyping & testing.
 Dev hand-over.
Newsletter strategy & design.

Approach

The work began with defining a clear MVP scope and mapping the end-to-end UX workflow, from first draft to publish-ready manuscript. From there, the LOOP design team, with Carolina Poch in a leading UX/UI role, designed and prototyped the Story Editor, testing flows and interactions with real users to identify where AI could add value without introducing friction. As the underlying AI technology evolved and ExtensityAI continued training the models, the team went through multiple design and product iterations. Assistant behaviors, suggestion logic, and UI patterns were continuously refined until the experience felt both intelligent and reliable, consistently supporting authors rather than distracting them.

Design Principles

AI as co-pilot, author in control

Trust and accessibility by default
Intuitive flow with clear guidance
Clarity over clutter
Iterate through testing

Solution

A focused, end-to-end editor that makes the path from draft to book publishing feel simple and guided. Authors can write, edit, and format directly, or upload raw content and let the Story Editor suggest structure, flow, and consistency. They review and refine these suggestions, apply final design adjustments, and publish, all within a single, coherent experience.

Impact

Shorter time to publication,
lower barriers for first-time authors,
& “Startup of the Week” just one week after Story Editor launched.
