Framer Public Booking Ecosystem & Next.js Admin Portal

Challenge

Transport Times UK operates a major UK transport media and events business, hosting annual industry conferences, awards ceremonies, and editorial publications. As their events portfolio expanded, operational workflows spread across fragmented, manual tools.
Event creation, ticket sales, awards entries, VAT calculations, and invoicing required heavy administrative effort. Preparing judge review packs involved collating dozens of individual file uploads by hand, while routine website content updates depended entirely on developer intervention.

Goal

To design and build a scalable event management platform featuring a Next.js admin portal, a Framer public website with CMS, automated Stripe & PO invoicing, and serverless awards PDF compilation.
The objective was to eliminate manual event setup, automate VAT handling across payment methods, provide self-serve awards entry, compile judge packs with one click, and give non-technical staff full editorial independence.

Our Contribution

Unified Next.js Admin Portal: Engineered an administration dashboard enabling staff to create, configure, and publish conference events (per-seat pricing) and awards ceremonies (seat and full-table pricing) from a central hub.
Dual Payment & Automated VAT Engine: Developed checkout flows supporting instant Stripe credit card payments and offline Purchase Order (PO) invoicing with automated server-side VAT calculations.
Awards Submission Portal: Built a self-serve portal for nominees to upload entry files tied directly to specific awards events and categories.
Automated PDF Judge Pack Compiler: Programmed a PDF compilation feature invoking Supabase Edge Functions to retrieve submission assets from storage, process them server-side, and compile organized judge packs instantly.
Framer Frontend & Framer CMS Integration: Built the public event website in Framer and integrated Framer CMS collections, allowing editorial teams to publish news and blog articles without code updates.
Serverless Supabase Architecture: Offloaded payment status webhooks, VAT validation, and document processing to Supabase Edge Functions connected to a PostgreSQL database.

Overview of Project Success

Toolshed transformed Transport Times UK's operations into a unified digital ecosystem. The platform automated VAT calculations, supported multiple payment options, cut judge pack preparation from hours to a single click, and gave non-technical staff total control over website content.
