We built Green Africa’s web platform end to end, covering flight booking, online check-in, and booking management. The work connected the customer-facing experience to airline reservation services, payments, passenger communications, and internal operational systems.

An airline booking journey involves constantly changing information. Fares and seat availability can change during checkout, payments and reservations must stay synchronized, and check-in and booking changes must follow airline rules.

The engineering challenge was keeping those processes consistent while giving passengers a clear path through each step.

Using React for the frontend and Laravel for the backend, I developed three connected passenger journeys:

Flight booking: Flight search, fare selection, passenger details, extras, payment, and reservation confirmation.

Online check-in: Eligibility checks, check-in windows, seat selection, and boarding pass generation.

Booking management: Reservation retrieval, changes, and cancellations, including applicable fare differences, fees, and restrictions.

The platform integrated airline reservation and check-in APIs, payment processing, email and SMS services, and internal airline systems.

Our work addressed payment and reservation consistency, changing fares and availability, and slow or failed third-party API responses. It also covered preserving booking progress across multiple steps and handling the rules behind check-in and reservation changes.

These concerns extended across both the interface and backend, requiring the passenger’s selections, payment status, and reservation information to remain aligned.

The platform supports passenger booking and self-service workflows across approximately 300 flights per month, bringing reservations, check-in, and booking management into one web experience.
