Designing clarity in high-stakes legal workflows
Firme H2E, a specialized platform for legal IT and forensic analysis, needed more than just a functional interface. It required a high-trust, precision-driven workspace where complex case data could be managed with confidence and clarity.
The goal was to transform dense, sensitive legal workflows into a structured, intuitive, and secure digital environment that empowers legal professionals to track and resolve cases without friction.
The Challenge
Legal and forensic systems are inherently complex, often overloaded with documents, steps, and fragmented tools.
The key issues:
Overwhelming data with no clear hierarchy
Disconnected workflows between case creation and tracking
Lack of immediate visibility into case status and progress
Interfaces that didn’t reflect the sensitivity and security required
High cognitive load when managing multiple cases
This wasn’t just a UI problem.
It was a clarity and workflow continuity problem.
Strategic Direction
The entire experience was built around one core principle:
Clarity builds trust.
Instead of exposing users to everything at once, the system was designed to:
Surface only what matters most
Guide users step-by-step through complex actions
Maintain a consistent, predictable structure
The flow became:
From complexity → to structure → to control.
Every interaction answers a key question:
What’s happening in this case, and what should I do next?
The Solution
1. A structured, high-clarity dashboard
The dashboard acts as the command center:
Card-based case overview
Clear labels (title, mandate, analysis type)
Visual indicators for progress and document count
Users can instantly scan and understand multiple cases without digging.
2. Step-by-step case creation
Instead of overwhelming forms, a guided onboarding flow was introduced:
Case Info → Documents → Review
Breaks complexity into manageable steps
Reduces input errors
Keeps users focused and confident
3. High-trust visual language
The interface was designed to feel secure and authoritative:
Deep navy and clean white palette
Minimal, structured layouts
Subtle contrast for focus and readability
The result feels closer to financial-grade systems than typical SaaS tools.
4. Clear action pathways
Every screen answers: what’s next?
Grouped actions like “View Case,” “Edit,” “Add Documents”
Logical placement aligned with workflow steps
No guesswork or hidden actions
5. Strong information hierarchy
Critical updates are impossible to miss:
Status badges like “Active” and “New”
Visual anchors guiding attention
Consistent placement across screens
This ensures users always stay oriented.
6. Frictionless document handling
Uploading sensitive data was designed to feel seamless:
Drag-and-drop interface
Immediate visual feedback
Clear confirmation of successful uploads
This builds confidence when handling critical evidence.
Visual & Design Direction
The design balances technical precision with usability:
Deep navy tones for authority and trust
Clean whites for clarity and breathing space
Structured grid system for consistency
Minimal but purposeful color accents for status and alerts
Everything is designed to reduce noise and increase focus.
