Firme H2E – Legal IT & Forensic Dashboard UI/UX

Overview

Firme H2E is a specialized IT solutions platform built for legal matters and forensic analysis. Dealing with sensitive data and complex case tracking, the platform requires a high degree of precision and security. I designed the comprehensive web application interface, focusing on a dashboard that allows legal professionals to manage, track, and resolve forensic cases with absolute clarity.
The mission: Transform dense, sensitive legal data into a streamlined, high-trust digital workspace.

The Challenge

Legal and forensic workflows are notoriously document-heavy and plagued by "information overload." The existing processes often rely on fragmented tools, making it difficult for experts to see the "big picture" of a case while still having access to granular details.
Key Challenges:
Complexity Management: Organizing multi-step case creation, document uploads, and expert assignments without cluttering the UI.
Trust & Security: Designing a visual language that feels "bank-grade" secure to reassure users handling sensitive evidence.
Workflow Continuity: Creating a seamless transition from the initial "Case Creation" wizard to the long-term "Dashboard" tracking.
Hierarchy of Information: Ensuring that critical status updates (e.g., "Active Case," "Expert Assigned") are immediately visible at a glance.

The Solution

I designed a structured, sidebar-driven ecosystem that prioritizes focus and minimizes cognitive load.
Centralized Case Dashboard: A clean, card-based layout that breaks down forensic cases by title, mandate, and specialized analysis. Progress indicators and document counts provide a high-level summary of each matter.
Stepped Onboarding/Creation: To prevent user fatigue, I implemented a multi-step "Get Started" flow for case creation. This breaks down a complex intake process into manageable chunks (Case Info → Documents → Review).
High-Trust Visual Language: A deep "Navy Blue" and "Arctic White" palette was used to evoke professionalism, stability, and tech-forward expertise.
Contextual Actions: Action buttons like "View Case," "Edit Case," and "Add Documents" are grouped logically, ensuring the next step in a legal workflow is always within reach.

The Process

1. Information Architecture I mapped out the hierarchy of a "Forensic Case" to understand which data points matter most to a lawyer vs. a forensic expert. This led to the "Principle / My Cases / Account" sidebar structure, keeping navigation persistent and predictable.
2. Component-Driven Design Given the density of information, I built a rigid grid system and a library of reusable components—status badges, document uploaders, and expert profile cards—to ensure a consistent experience across the entire app.
3. Interaction Design I focused on "Frictionless Uploads." The drag-and-drop interface for evidence and supporting files was designed to feel tactile and responsive, giving users immediate feedback that their sensitive data has been securely received.
4. Refinement & Hierarchy Through iterative testing, I refined the use of color. Red "New" notifications and blue "Active" badges act as visual anchors, guiding the user’s eye to the most urgent tasks first.

The Impact

Operational Clarity: Legal teams can now track the lifecycle of a case from a single pane of glass, reducing the time spent searching for document statuses.
Reduced Onboarding Friction: The stepped case-creation wizard significantly lowered the barrier for new users to input complex forensic data correctly.
🎨 Authority & Branding: The cohesive design system positioned Firme H2E as a premium, modern leader in the Legal-IT space.
🔁 Scalable Infrastructure: The modular dashboard design allows for the easy addition of new forensic categories and tools as the platform grows.

Deliverables

Full Web App UI/UX Design (Case Management & Dashboard)
Interactive Prototyping for multi-step case creation and document management
Comprehensive Design System (Typography, Grid, Color Palette, and Component Library)
Secure Flow Mapping for sensitive data handling and user permissions

Reflection

Designing for Legal-Tech is a balance between "too much information" and "not enough context." The Firme H2E project succeeded by embracing white space and strict hierarchy, proving that even the most complex forensic data can be made to feel intuitive and manageable.
