Let’s Play Cards | End-to-End UX/UI for Web-Based Game Platform

Vilde Sofie

Vilde Sofie Mathisen

As the UX and UI designer at Let’s Play Cards, I was responsible for designing the entire player experience across the platform, from first-time onboarding to in-game interfaces. This included registration flows, game setup, player profiles, and consistent layouts across multiple card games. Every screen was designed to be intuitive, responsive, and accessible for players of all ages and tech familiarity.
While my main focus was UX/UI design in Figma, I also used DevTools to inspect and tweak visual inconsistencies, sharing refined HTML/CSS with the developers to ensure accurate implementation.

Onboarding & Login Flow

This flow was designed to make getting started with Let’s Play Cards smooth and intuitive, whether on desktop or mobile. Clear CTAs and minimal friction were key to reducing drop-off at the entry point.

Goal

To ensure users of all tech levels could easily register, log in, and start playing, without confusion or unnecessary steps.

Approach

I designed clean, focused screens with high contrast, friendly language, and responsive layouts. Social login options were added for quicker access, and states were carefully mapped out for edge cases like failed logins, already-registered emails.

Game Setup Flow

This flow was designed to make setting up a game fast and frustration-free. Whether playing with friends or bots, the interface guides players clearly through each step while minimizing cognitive load.

Goal

To simplify the process of starting a game, reduce hesitation around setup decisions, and support both casual and planned sessions with friends.

Approach

I designed a modular setup flow that adapts based on user type and intent. This includes:
A game preview with a quick “How to play” link.
Flexible invite/scheduling options with visual friend selectors.
Room customization (like choosing a table).
Rules preview for clarity before play.
The entire setup fits neatly into a few steps, even on mobile, making it easy for all users, regardless of tech comfort level.

In-Game UI & Player Actions

This flow was designed to make mid-game interactions intuitive, focused, and easy to follow, especially on mobile. Every action, from selecting a card to changing suits, was built with responsiveness, clarity, and player feedback in mind.

Goal

Ensure smooth and visually clear gameplay that supports fast decision-making, prevents misclicks, and keeps players immersed, even on small screens.

Approach

The game view was designed to minimize distractions and support quick, confident decision-making. Cards are spaced for readability and tap precision, and key actions like “Draw” or “Play” remain fixed and within easy thumb reach. Interactive moments, such as suit selection in Crazy Eights, appear in centered overlays that stand out clearly from the background. Real-time prompts, like “Vilde played the 3 of Hearts”, help all players stay in sync without needing to second-guess what happened. The entire experience is shaped by clarity, rhythm, and flow.

Marketing Landing Pages for Google Ads

As part of our launch strategy, I also designed dedicated landing pages for each game. These are used as targeted destinations for Google Display Ads. Each page matches the visual tone of the platform while focusing on a single clear call-to-action.
