In my long tenure freelancing for music technology companies Splice and ROLI, I served as one of the key voices in their editorial content strategy. To kick that off, you can review all my articles released via Splice with this single link:





While not brought in at Splice to take on this task, it eventually became a significant part of my day-to-day. Through this visibility I was found by ROLI who brought me in for three contracts solely focused on this area, lasting mid 2023-mid 2024.

My musical background is that of guitar, vocals, and audio engineering. Through theatre and performances at a young age to my undergraduate degree with countless hours in the studio, both the cultural and technical elements of music have been a throughline in my life. As such, my writing at ROLI was very valuable for their multiple brand verticals. Firstly, there was LUMI, an interactive, illuminated keyboard to pair with an app for early music learners. Therefore my tone in these cases was catered to those first steps. Such as:







But I also touched on a more popular lens, diving into the careers of artists, cultural moments, and more.







Though the company itself -- ROLI -- is a totally different focus. This is a space for experienced music producers embracing new technologies, and in this case, that of MPE. MPE, or MIDI Polyphonic Expression, is on the mission to create keyboards as expressive as stringed instruments. As a stringers player myself, of course one of my first pieces as I began to learn what a Seaboard was looked like this:





All in all, I composed over 35 articles for the brand in less than a year. The tool used for SEO optimizations was one of the more valuable tools I learned, and my writing continuously improved in initial scores before using its tricks to preemptively boost engagement chances.
