Rebranding FAJ Sports - Brand Identity Case Study

Project Overview

FAJ Sports introduced its first logo in 2018 during its early beginnings at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. Since then, the brand has grown massively, now reaching over 75,000 followers across social media platforms, with a strong audience on Instagram alone.
As the brand expanded from hostel football coverage to national and international sports media, the old identity could no longer represent its scale and influence. In 2025, I redesigned the brand identity to create a stronger, modern, and scalable look that aligns with FAJ Sports’ new positioning.

The Challenge — Why a Redesign Was Needed

As FAJ Sports grew, the old logo became a limitation. Its outdated style lacked uniqueness, weak scalability hindered digital and print applications, and minimal memorability reduced brand impact.

Goals of the Rebrand

The redesign aimed to elevate FAJ Sports both visually and strategically. The new identity modernizes the overall look and feel, strengthens brand recognition and recall, and improves versatility across media, apparel, and digital platforms. It reflects the energy, motion, and strength of the brand while establishing a bold and credible presence in the sports media space.

Logo Evolution

The old logo placed the “F” and “S” side by side, which lacked flexibility and visual impact. The new logo merges the “F” into the “S” using a subtractive technique, creating a unified, modern symbol. Angular forms convey speed and impact, and multiple logo formats ensure versatility across platforms.

The New Identity

The redesigned logo gives FAJ Sports a stronger and more modern visual presence. By integrating the “F” into the “S,” the new mark feels unified, scalable, and instantly recognizable. It keeps the brand’s roots but presents it with a bold, media-ready look that works across digital platforms, merchandise, and partnerships.

Impact of the Rebrand

The updated identity has strengthened FAJ Sports’ presence across digital platforms.
