Kern Society: landing page for a type foundry

The idea

A type foundry sells something you can only judge by using it. So the page skips the brochure and hands over the product straight away.

What visitors do

The name on the front page is the demo: the letters swell and stretch as your cursor comes near, and the whole line still fits the screen. Further down, a type tester lets people write their own words and push them through every weight and width. On a phone, the name swells as you scroll instead.

Why it matters for a brand

If your product is something people need to try, the page can be the first place they try it.

Fonts sell when people get to play with them, so the brand name on the front page is the demo.
