Nottto app: Bolt.new prototype

Many note-taking apps are complex, have unattractive UIs, and lack customization options. As a long-time user of note-taking apps – from Evernote to Notion – I've gathered extensive user feedback. This feedback reveals common issues, particularly among younger users. While people want to create custom dashboards in Notion and Obsidian, these tools weren't designed with this purpose in mind. That's why I experimented with Nottto, which focuses on customization, pleasant UI, and simplified complexity. Plus, I wanted to add stories as a unique feature in this kind of apps!

I started with product requirements. In Gemini, I described the initial requirements and created a detailed technical document.

Then I moved to Bolt.new, where I started prompting with the attached requirements generated in Gemini.

The first prototype contained a lot of issues, and I spent some time prompting and fixing bugs, adding features.

The most difficult part was adding a Kanban board with styled cards — this is a very complex piece, and I spent more time refining and debugging with Bolt.

I tested this app with my 12-year-old son, and he gave me very positive feedback!

I created a list of ideas for the next iteration: a proper visual editor, sharing, multiplayer, stories, comments, mobile experience, integration with databases, accounts system.

An interactive prototype that contains a dashboard, notes list (with two kinds of view), Kanban board, attachment views, simple navigation, and notification system. More importantly, this is not a Figma prototype. I can easily export the code and continue development. I spent less than a day on it!
