As a biracial person, trying to be in touch with two very different cultures at the same time can be confusing. For me, music is the way I bridge that gap within myself. I’ve always subconsciously gravitated towards musical artists that look like me (Ruth B, Mahalia, Umi, Samm Henshaw) because their stories are so personally relatable and relevant. My love for biracial music artists within the realm of R&B lead me to create three different music albums that piece together the story of a Nigerian woman coming to America. Each design was crafted intentionally to show the artist’s emotions as she adapted to a new place.
