Design and Copywriting for Vita Wellness App

A wellness app with an AI that has an answer for "what should I eat for dinner." Design and copy by the same person, on purpose.

Client: None. Vita is a fictional mobile app.
Scope: Product Design + UI Copy + Design System (light/dark) + Onboarding + App Icon
Timeline: 1 Week
My role: Everything visible, everything written

The Problem

Wellness apps fragment into trackers — one for meals, one for water, one for steps, one for mood. The study: a single companion where an AI chat, a nutrition/fitness/hydration dashboard, and food scanning behave like one product, with interface copy that sounds like one voice.

Constraints

Full pipeline in one study: wireframes → hi-fi → prototype with interactions → development-ready annotations.
Every string on every screen written by the designer — no lorem ipsum shipped to the final screens.

The Approach

Decision 1: light and dark mode as variable modes from day one. Every token was defined for both modes, so the entire prototype switches with one dropdown, and every final screen exists in both.
Decision 2: a small real design system instead of a big fake one. Rejected the alternative of skipping systemization "because it's a study." The system is deliberately modest — variables, styles, a component set with organisms — but it's load-bearing: the final screens are built from it, not near it.
Decision 3: the AI as a feature inside the product, not the product. The chat answers cravings, frustration, hydration nagging — but it sits beside the dashboard, scanning, and goals rather than replacing them. Rejected the chat-first structure, because "talk to your wellness app" is a demo; "your wellness app can also talk" is a product.

The Range Moment

Design and copy came from one head, so the insight strings on the dashboard ("Your diet is becoming more protein-based each day") were written for the layouts they live in — the tone, the length, and the card height were one decision, not a handoff where copy arrives too long for the component that was designed for it.

The Outcome

A complete concept product: design system with full light/dark parity, onboarding, app icon, hi-fi screens in both modes, interactive prototype, and development-ready annotations. Everything in 1 week.
