A stylized treasure chest built for an Action-Adventure game setting. The project was an opportunity to push further into stylized sculpting and hand-painted texture accents while staying inside a fully PBR-compatible workflow.
The Brief
The goal was to design a chest with exaggerated proportions and chunky, stylized detailing that reads clearly at a glance, while keeping the asset lightweight and fully game-ready.
Specs
— 2,568 triangles
— 1x 2K texture set
— Fully game-ready with clean topology
Process
Modeling & Sculpting
The base mesh was modeled and sculpted in Blender, with a focus on exaggerated proportions and chunky, stylized shapes to push the character of the asset beyond a realistic reference.
UV Mapping
UVs were laid out in RizomUV with a professional, efficient layout to maximize texture space and avoid stretching across the mesh.
Base Color
Texturing was baked and painted in Substance Painter, combining PBR materials with stylized color gradients and hand-painted edge highlights — keeping the surface graphic and game-appropriate rather than photoreal.
Texture Maps
A breakdown of the core texture set — Normal, Base Color, Roughness, and Ambient Occlusion — all packed into a single 2K sheet to keep the asset lightweight and engine-ready.
Final Render
Final presentation was set up and rendered in Blender, framed to show the chest both open and closed and highlight the stylized metal trim and wood detailing.
Result
A stylized, game-ready chest prop with exaggerated, character-driven shapes and a clean PBR texture set — built to slot straight into an Action-Adventure environment.
